Bend over here it comes again

To all the ADF Vets out there you will be pleased to know that the government is reviewing  a situation  where our families were getting ripped off even after our death .

It took a lot of work  by a lot of people to get the government to even recognize that there are anomalies in the DVA system   so getting it reviewed is a start at least

does the government recognise that there was actually a vietnam conflict, mate we keep saying "government" it is not actually government, it is in fact some pencil pushing, money grasping, hog ugly, little dweeb who in a maniacal grab for a small semblence of power "forgets" to pay the correct ammount

put me in charge for a day and I would solve it by making all vets immediate millionares, and grant the widows and mothers of those that have lost loved ones an immediate pension of $100,000 per year for life, we, I think, owe them at least that!!

look at what we pay bankers and retired government officials and all they did was to balls the place up

Bend over here it comes again  = BOHICA pmsl..yeah I remember it well.
DVA have some really weird policies, eg if you need say crutches or a walker to get over a knee job they will buy you one but won't hire you one and you can get it only once so you have the gear and you have to hang onto it because when you turn 79 and need a walker they won't get you a new one. Yet if you are a WWII veteran who was in Darwin and fought there you don't automatically get a gold card. Then Yesterday I was at the dentist to get a filling replaced and the receptionist asked me was there anything else they could do... "would you like to come back for a check up and a clean?".... "Ok will DVA pay for that? yep certtainly Sir....so being the proffessional agent provocateur I asked "Would DVA pay for veneers or a whiten?" answer "when you come in for your checkup ask the dentist because if the dentist reccomends it we send off for approval and you could have it done"
I may try for botox and a boob job at the Doctors next week...
But look at the sailors on the Voyager, look at some Vietnam vets, they can't get help 40 years on. I think it's a bit like the "sorry" thing the Govt feels that if they let these few people have what are their just rewards that they will be opening the floodgates. Far simpler to have a medal struck for them, and then you get that warm fuzzy feeling that someone cares....

Geeeeeeeeee Dave I don't know, giving everyone money especially in these times of fiscal stringency especially Veterans.... NO WAY we would all take off and form a commune at Pandanus Palms with girls at DVA expense unlimited grog, glorious sunsets etc at taxpayers expense..... No I don't think that would be practical, you would not have any money left to give to the Indonesians....

I hear that Big Kev gave 1.2 billion to the Indonesians s today to help them out over these tough economic times .

My view is that the money is going straight into the pockets or the Swiss numbered accounts of the local pollies to make up for the losses they will incur if they stop the boat people leaving their shores . Why should we give our money to them, better value putting it into more patrol boats and up size the deck guns. Maybe if the Navy had more live firing days at moving targets they would get more boys and girls signing up.

the government commisioned a study that worked out that they could give every vet and war widow a full TPI pension and gold card by closing down the DVA offices altogether and within 2 years the government would be showing a profit and the system would become self funding for all future ADF needs . I'll bet that report never sees the light of day.
