I have now completed the bed frame and the mattress itself is at the upholsterers. I got the mattress custom made and opted for this latex material which will work better for my needs. Extremely comfy and should last for years to come. The mattress has been made up in two parts, 2 foot x 6 foot 4 inches and 1 foot x 6 foot 4 inches. The larger piece is used for the sofa when the bed is in the 'upright' position and the smaller piece as a bolster or back rest. I tried it out before sending it on to the upholsterer and it is comfier than the sofa I have in the house. At night the sofa frame is pulled out and the back rest swings down to form a single bed 3 foot x 6 foot 4 inches. It is a simple design with little fuss for setting the bed up or putting it back to a sofa in the morning. I tried for a fixed bed that didn't require any alteration but in the space I have it was pretty much impossible.
As you can see from the photographs I have a 20 litre plastic jerrycan with an electric pump to feed the water into the tap, sitting under the sink, though the pump is yet to be installed. The reason I only went for a 20 litre is I don't intend on using the indoor facilities as much as I will the outside ones. I will have a full kitchen set up outside in my annexe as well which will be the main one used.
Overall moving along pretty well but it is a bigger job than I thought it would be.
great stuff, well done and dont "cave" in on any of it, it will all work out in the end!!
