whats your scariest moment Had driven to the top of the hairpins on Mt lomond, feb 06, and was taking pics from the lookout, have a look at the rock thats on the road, would have flattened a car, guess I have a few miles left in me yet,
Is that what NSW Main Roads mean with their signs, "Falling Rocks Do Not Stop". I know it's a bit ambiguous, but it made me smile every time I saw it. I'm not sure if the falling rocks keep falling, or if the motorists are to keep moving because falling rocks don't hit moving vehicles. Lucky you kept moving this time. Signs all around Oz have brought smiles to my dial. Local Government is the best at bad signs. Cheers Granny

well I guess one would have to be very unlucky indeed to get a boulder weighing in exces of two tons coming and giving the side of your vehicle a kiss, but it does happen,
anywhere that a "cutting" is made through or alongside a mountain range then the danger is there, in these cases the walls are so high that a decent "batter" cannot be achieved so the sides are steep and falling material is an omnipresent danger and must be kept aware of, please do not stop in these areas to do anything, just remember the sole purpose of a mountain is to be worn down by time, if you are there when she sneezes then you had better duck, boulders dont care who or what they hit

I was going through a cutting years ago when a fresion cow fell off the top landing on the bonnet of my datsun car....squashing the engine into the ground....worst part was it ****ttted all through the car....squashing the dashboard....missing me though..
now thats what I would call just plain bad luck!!! what are the odds of being hit by a cow............... the dragon has had a couple of swipes at me hmmmmm!!!!! better leave it there I reckon!!!

Do Emu's count? They have an annoying habit of running alongside the car trying to outpace it then squatting down on the road.....Hitting an Emu at speed in a Honda Jazz is to say the least unnerving.... Rocks falling onto roads must be a major problem though as I see countless sq km of embankments covered in wire mesh to prevent rocks rolling onto roads and overpasses all seem to have mesh fencing to stop idots throwing rocks off them.

Well I don't know about you Smokey but if a car landed out of nowhere on top of our car, it wouldn't just be the cow that "***tted all through the car!!"

My Mate called around to show me his new car couple years ago...a BMW 2 door....we went for a drive in country..an hour later...5 hours after he purchased it...we hit a roo....$27,000 damage...OUCH!!!

I had my first experience of driving on the wrong side of the road in Spain. All was nearly ok until I came to a roundabout in Malaga.Bloody locals all went round the roundabout anti clockwise. With mybrilliant driving skills I continued in a clockwise direction, and to make it worse when I used my indicators the windscreen wipers took over.Funny thing is that a lot of motorists used the same finger talk as we do in Oz.Cheers Ibbo
