The most imaginative gift I got this year was from BIL who gave me a stack of "AUSTRALIA - IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT YOU ARE FREE TO LEAVE" stickers.... I spent this morning at my local shopping mall affixing them to the vehicles of obviously non AUSTRALIAN drivers...... Also I seem to get a swathe of Bunnings Gift Vouchers, they will come in handy....

My hints were heeded too .... I got lots of stuff to go with my latest toy (a 2nd hand Viking Tempo Fisherman kayak that I got out of the Trading post a few months ago).
- A deepcycle marine batt for the old elec motor that my son-in-law had lying in his shed. No need to use the 9yo one out of the van now.
- A 'Frill neck' cap (one of those that covers your neck & can be adjusted to cover most of your face too).
- A Burke 50+ quick dry sunblock shirt
- A pair of flippers to go with my snorkling set (useful I suppose if I have to swim home).
With all this good stuff, I just had to take a trip up to Wivenhoe Dam after boxing day to check out the caravan sites for a late summer/Autum expedition.
I gave Barry a collection of Hema maps/atlas's and a CD of the desert tracks- he hasn't stopped playing with the CD yet and keep looking and planning. .
The CD is just amazing with such incredible detail, with all the gps readings, fuel stops, camps and the like and the information matches the 4WD large read atlas. Each map can be printed out or linked into the GPS.
There is an internet site (if anyone wants to know - PM me) which is where I got it all from at a very reasonable rate. Here in very quick time too.
The good thing is that with the CD you can collect all 6 sets of maps , so one for each Christmas should work well.
I got some more photographic equipment - which never goes to waste.
well I got more chocolate than a man has a right to ever see, I recieved more hugs than any man has a right to proclaim, more "I love you pops" than a man should endure and more loving little kisses than I could count, my knees still havent healed from so many little backsides all wanting to sit on "pops" knee
I always go into xmas with a "bah humbug" and come out the other side with a bag full of loot and a grin that you couldnt get off with a wire brush
