Narrandera Caravan Park OZ Parks and Marong Caravan Park Vic

Just a quick note to let you you know about a caravan park at Narrandera NSW.

It is a Member of the OZ Parks group and we are presently here at the moment.

The park is a credit to the owners, it is neat and tidy and the staff are a very friendly bunch.  It is very dog friendly to the point that dogs are even permitted to stay on the cabins.

It is one of the few parks that appreciate our 4 legged friends and even stated last night that of the 12 lots staying at the park 9 of them had dogs.

The park is only small but is worth 10/10.

Stayed at Marong in Vict for a couple nights at the CP and although very old is just what us oldies need, peace and quite.  Was nice and peaceful even though there are a few permanents, they were of the older generation and were not party animalssmile Marong is about 20 klms out of Bendigo.

Also very dog friendly.  8/10.

Just a couple of good CPs.

Take care and stay well

Peter

G'Day Mike,

Glad you had a good stay at Marong.  We stayed as we were waiting to see my son in law who comes from St Arnaud.  My daughter was unable to make it.

When he left to return to St Arnaud, he came across a Van (Not Caravan) which had overturned about 20 klms out of St Arnaud and there were 2 males walking around.   He stopped to render assistance and was king hit and then whilst on the ground kicked in the face and body by both these intoxicated morons.  Both had just been released from prison.  They attempted to steal his vehicle.  My son in law has not got an evil bone in his body and is not a fighter.  Consequentially he was conveyed from the scene in an unconcious state, by ambulance to hospital with broken teeth, fractured nose and ribs plus as you can imagine bruising to all his body.

Does it pay to stop and help people?  Makes you wonders doesn't it?  Guess they had been rehabilitated and released to serve the community.

After all this what I am saying is that the Park was Fabulous and I will return at some stage but my stay leaves my with an awful taste in my mouth.

Glad you enjoyed your stay as I wasn't sure if anyone knew where the place was smile

Take care and stay well

Peter

So don't, I refuse to stop unless directed to by the police, these incidents are happening all to frequently, the unfortunate part is they are happening further into the bush, which is where I ran to excape, (too long a story) so now carry a double barrel,
Believe me I will use it loaded with ratsbot, and face the consquences
Have a good day mate

Stopping to help was very common as you old farts know, but that was a long time ago the world has changed for the worse.

If you (as a truck driver) seen a truck (or a car) on the side  of the road you would stop and give a hand along with a half dozern others, and if you just drove past without offering help, word would get around and their name was s#*t.

Not now, they just blast past, and try and take your mirrors with them.

When we repaired our own flats on the side of the road you could end up with a dozen trucks stopped on the Nullabour helping each other fix flats and a BBQ.

It's been said that's how a lot of country towns started.
So where did it all go wrong?

It would seem to have all gone wrong when people stopped respecting each other and their property.

I believe we were raised in a more genteel era so to speak, an era when respect for others and their property was instilled in the youth of the day, when we had assembly at school and saluted the flag before lessons started and the belief that to spare the rod was to spoil the child, not that I am advocating beating children but just the threat of a visit to the headmastres office was sufficient to make one toe the line.  It is my firm belief that the lack of discipline in today's society is the cause of many of our woes.

John.

Yep.
I always said the world's problems stem from four words.
"Lack Of Mutual Respect"
Every man and woman in this country aged 17 should do at least 3 years in the Army, Navy, or Air force.
That would sort out some of those that want to live here.

No arguments here pal.  A stint in the armed forces would work wonders.

Yep lack of respect for others, lack of respect for oneself and common sense have all dissapeared with the throwaway generation. I doubt that trying to instill any sense of dicipline into todays kids would work, they are all just so aware of their rights but they convneiently abrogate any responsibility they should have. Even the armed services these days are full of teriary trained, totally lifeunskilled types, yeah nice people, but only cognisant of their rank and who is senior enough to give the orders and so specialised that if they are thrown a curved ball they are not allowed to deal with it but they are required to allow the specialist in that field to deal with the problem. Not at all like when I was trained, strewth we had to train to dismantle MkII torpedoes blindfolded and there was never a recorded incidence of a torpedo attack on a beach in the Vietnam war.... And my team was really really good at that activity we could completley dismantle and rebuild one of those in 1 hour 57 minutes.
Todays kids are just not interested unless it is digital with an LCD....

We are dinosaurs, like it or not, the world we helped to make a better place for the next generation's will never be what we wanted it to be.
We let it get out of hand by allowing our judges to make the wrong decision's on a whole range of things.
I know the army has changed, I was a three year reg, 67-70 it was the best three years of my life, but I still believe it's one of the best ways to teach self discipline and respect I've seen inside enough jails lately training inmates, and thinking it would be best if they had done some time in a special unit in Bagdad.

Crikey I better get off, this started out as Narranera Van park story's
