thank you Cindy, yet another instance of ask and ye shall receive, if I could just ask that perhaps the G.P.S. positions were included as well, would make it a whole lot simpler to find, and if possible a small descriptive picture would be great

I think this is a very good idea......The way the establishment wants us to keep putting our hands in our pockets for this and for that...it's high time we had some freebies......I know one that is Okay at 13th beach Barwon Heads i have submitted a photo on this site somewhere...Maybe in the photo section...beach Veiws......And just beatiful I spent a couple of days there last Month......It's a large Car Park without Meters...Hop this is of some help.......Also the Mighty Murray River outside Echuca free as long as you like

I am not sure if this is the right place to put this request. I would like to offer overnight site stop for your caravan at my place in return for a couple of hours free weed pulling/maintenance/ labour in return. Is this okay? I live 20kms east of Albany in West Australia. on the banks of the Kalgan river.

Try Point Heron WA (Peel Estuary) $10 per night but off season (after April) its free right on the water, great crabbing - No power but very clean flushing toilets.

Can offer accommodation in exchange for some work on a property at Humpty Doo in the rural area of Darwin in the NT . The parking spot (connectable to power) is separate from the main dwelling and is near a donga (with power/water/outside toilet) if you want to tumble out of your van into more space. The perfect couple would be one capable of weeding of the vegie and heliconia patch, some handyman skills and if by chance there is some lady (or man) who could sew cushion covers that would be a bonus (machine and materials supplied of course). Chores and length of stay would be up for negotiation.

Hi Lorelei, I hope to be in WA next year and Albany/Denmark area is among my favourite top few in the Country. Can I have a raincheck for next year? In 2006/7 I spent many weeks in the area most at Kalgan River Caravan Park and can't wait to get back over there.

Leyburn between Toowoomba and Warwick is a great free campsite with no time limitation. The spot is huge, a recreation ground just across the creek from the township and small shop. There is one flushing loo and potable water available. The shop has limited supplies but bread papers milk and icecreams aplenty.

Another good campsite without time limit is Yellow Pinch Dam about 16 k's north of Merimbula on the coast. There are good toilets and fresh water available and well in off the highway so quiet.

What did you think of the Kalgan River Chalets and Caravan Park? We are planning on going Feb 2011. We have stayed at the Happy Days CP, Emu Beach CP and Panorama CP and found them all to be quite good. Look forward to your reply.

Okay Kevin, I'll tell you one.

Blackall Qld, on the banks of the river. Away from the main road, so nice and quiet. smile

Plenty of room, and toilets and showers are within easy walking distance. I didn't use them, so can't say personally how they are, but someone else came along and told me they were good.

You're supposed to pay $5 at the info centre, but there was no-one there when I went so I didn't end up paying.

It's blacksoil country though, and I can tell you from experience, blacksoil gets VERY boggy when wet.

We stayed at the Blackall caravan park earlier this year, only because we needed to top up the power and do some washing and such.

Saw the campground and it looked good too.

Plenty of vans there and still more room for more.

Very tranquil setting.

Yes Ma, tranquil is the word.

I was there in June. That was my first night alone. Friends and family had gone their own way.

The next night was Morven..another budget camp, the showgrounds. Donation tin there. That was the night I froze, almost literally, and got a tick on me.

Still, it was a tranquil spot too, with a creek nearby. smile

smile Just had a week at Bracknell Tasmania out of Deloraine, free by the Liffey River, just beautiful, also Myrtle Park, Targa Tasmania, 1/2 way between Launceston & Scottsdale Tasmania, $3.00 per night,hot showers,brilliant camp kitchen,laundry,store and cafe, brilliant scenery, huge area,the most beautiful trees, with St Patricks river running the boundary

Jimbo referred me to a book for budget/free campgrounds and I think the one you're mentioning here is it. Would you mind letting me know how I can get a copy? How long does it take to arrive? I'm thinking I'll order it once I get there as it would likely take some weeks to ship it to Atlantic Canada from Australia. I won't need it until then, anyway. aww

Up until the current issue we have always just used the ordinary one.

This time however with Camps 6 we decided to go with the "snaps" version. At least you get a bit of an idea of what the area is like with the little piccys that they include.

Both versions are good LJ so jut depends on your budget I guess.
