After 56 years since the introduction of TV into Australia they should be ashamed if they consider digital television transmissions on the east coast as progress towards the 22 century .
I live on the east coast, dam near under a transmission tower, and at the slightest hint of an atmospheric disturbance the sound and picture quality turns utter crap and we turn the whole system off and go back to analogue reception, which is like going into a time warp by comparison .
Having spent the budget of a small African nation of bits to correct the reception difficulties and had everyone apart from Bill Gates providing advice on how to improve reception I am still not a happy camper .
Maybe the minister for communication needs to rethink the situation before he / she approves the switching off the analogue system and we lose the value of 56 years of trial and error .
Anyone living in a prime reception area having similar problems

Hear,Hear. We have the same stinking problems here at North Arm Cove.Usually pic and sound will go just a try, ajuicy bit,an interesting comment is being made.Try as in Rugby League or Union. One step foreward and two steps back television is my name for Digital.Bugger,Banana's in Pyjamas has gone all haywire.Cheers.Ibbo.
we had the same problems here, I had to end up disconnecting from our 60 foot tower and go back to rabbit ears
the problem is, in our case, the signal is too strong we have to "detune" just a little to get a decent signal
we have the flatscreen high def plasma with built in hd, we still get the occasional bit of interference but I dont watch all that much, I find it is the same old dribble that was there ten years ago, names and faces are the same but the programs and news doesnt change
I do know of a simple way to fix the problem "TURN IT OFF" that solves all of the silly nonsense

I have a SD set top box......only thing I see different from analogue and SD.is .SD has a black line top and bottom of screen.........I cant afford HD TV..or those big screen TVs........most time TV is analogue.for Me.......its like.what hapens to video.tapes.......when you cant buy video recorders in future.........and whats Blue Ray??....LOL.....I think I'm already in that time warp...Wombat
It's all called progress, videos replaced by DVD's cassettes replaced by CD's now the minister for bad music and even poorer dance skills, Peter Garret, is replacing incandescent light globes with the new mercury filled Fluro's.. Frying Pan into the Fire springs to mind
Did you hear on todays news that India is mass producing the new Nano Car which sells for $2000 dollars it's 2 cylinder ( probably 2 stroke ) and has a top speed of 105 Km's . Another ride on with a cabin attached
Standby Mr Garret and watch the pollution levels go out of control, and we think our small gas reduction by changing a bloody light globe is going to make any impression on the greenhouse gas solution, Think again.

SWMBO gave me a real hard time because the digital pic was pixelating. Had to re run all the coax in the house in RG6 and that made a big difference but we still get pixellation at times. They are having many technical probs with the digital transmission that had been designed to work with a slightly different system & bandwidth than ours, but it's OK the consumers will put up with anything in order to get digital Days of our lives, Biggest looser, and So you think you can dance.

Yep we have the same problem. Since getting the HD set we have not been able to get channel 7 at all. Down right hopeless, glad to know it isn't just us though.
Progress, an excuse for someone to make lots of lovely money out of us poor suckers, I am sure all have noticed that analogue TV will eventually close down and if we wish to watch TV at all we will have to invest in a set top box or a new TV, and I bet the government is behind it all, they can smell the money rolling in from all the taxes we will have to pay on the purchase of our bright new toys.

We low life who choose to be in the bush are happy about the digital tele. Where there was NO reception, now can get some thing.
Not that i watch it, just nice to have something the city takes for granted. Hoping for town water and sewerage next, but given up on a garbage collection.
