new vans popular

ordered a new jayco poptop last week .townsville jayco sold 22 new vans and 4second hand ones for the month of march.with 4 new van dealers in town could only guess how many were sold all up.still a lot of money around.seems like people just want to keep caravaning.more retirees and soon to be retirees  enjoying the good life. you only have one life so enjoy it as much as you can.

funny the result of less money floating around results in more vans sold locally in australia, but there is still a great swag of money in some peoples pockets, sutherbys just set a record for some unknowns painting $40,000,000.00

love "animal" by the way, great fan of the muppetts, "mah nah ma nah, do do bedoobeduup," love it

biggrin Just picked up our new Jayco Discovery this arvi.  Sheer luxury for me although we did love our Jayco Penguin.  Sorry to see it go actually.

Once we have done a couple of days down at Congo to iron out any bugs I will be right.  Better to have a couple of days close to home to get the feel of things.

Guru did a great job of backing into the narrow parking bay in the compound of our village so I reckon he will be able to put it almost anywhere......with the help of the walking jockey wheel of course.

Can't wait for the end of May when we start our pilgrimage to Darwin.   Hope to see some of you along the way.

It seems some folks are selling their real estate, and moving to caravans or motorhomes.
They're either storing or selling the furniture and other wordly goods.
A couple moved into this park in a van a couple of weeks ago after selling their house and storing their other stuff. Now they're pondering their future - to buy or not to buy - house or van? Hmmmmm.....
They're in their mid/late 50's (guessing), and both working full time.
The more they see of my lifestyle the more they ponder.
Is Grey Nomadism contagious as well as addictive?
That makes me contagious. Better than Dengue Fever.
Live the good life. Cheers Granny

Yeah new vans seem to be selling like the proverbial Maccas hotcakes. The dealers still whinge & whine though, saw one guy on the news the other night bemoaning the fact that his supplier (Corromal) won't or can't increase production and he is missing out because Customers are going to the Jayco place because they can supply a van in a month whereas he has to wait 5 for orders to arrive.

Beginning to wonder about new vans bought ours in September it has been back to the dealer for small things to be fixed twice now looks as if it needs a new roof and looks like a 5 to 6 week wait for that all this time not been able
to use the van and get out there and see this wonderful country of ours makes you wonder. On top of that what happens to the warranty? Sorry to be such a moan but honestly------------

Another neighbour in this park have a new Jayco Heritage with slide out bedroom, still in the warranty period.
They've had numerous problems including roof leaks at the slide out join with the van wall, and vents allowing water to gush in during Cairns downpours.
When they compain to Jayco they're told they have to go to Townsville, 400kms south, to get someone to look at the problems. No mention of repairs.
There's a caravan repair business here in town, but they aren't to go to him.
So they've taken some prevent measures in the interim so they don't drown in their home, or do further damage to the van's infrastructure.
One has to really wonder, once again, about customer service. It seems once they have your money you can just tow the van down the road and "stay out!"
A used van, well maintained, will often be more reliable because the teething problems and leaks have been dealt with.
Cheers Granny

cry will just have to cross our fingers Granny.  We had some rain last night and I was down at the van this morning but I must honestly say I wasn't looking for leaks.  Will duck back down later and have a look.  Mind you the roof wasn't "Popped" either.

Guess time will tell. We haven't had her out yet, will do that over the next week or so for a couple of days not too far from home just to get the feel of it and to iron out any "bugs".  Hope there aren't too many.

Cheers

That's what we want to do too Helena, nothing worse than getting a zillion miles from home only to find you need something that you haven't got or thought you would need.

A couple of days closer to home seems like a good idea to me.

take a joke, my skin is straight off a rhinos hide, give and take is what life is all about, so come on hitch up your knickers, pick up your skirts and hook up the van, times wasting, so many things to see and so little time,

I'm here busting a gut to get travelling again and you buggers are wasting time, god I would be out of here quicker than a curry through an englishman

These aluminium boxes with staples have secret leaking places.
Check around windows and the door, in the boot, behind the vents for any signs of water, under the back and front roll, seams where the walls meet the top, and inside cupboards. Sorry to "pour water" on your excitement, and I hope it all comes out in the wash.  Keep your powder dry.
All the best with that.  Cheers Granny

Ohh Helena we can sympathise. We bought our band new van last July and have been able to use it a total of 4 weekends now due to "problems" . Looks like it is fianlly sorted (fingers crossed) but the short of it , I would not reccomend the dealer we bought it from to anyone due to lack of customer service. Once they get your hard earned dollars they wipe you. As you can tell, still a very sore point with us.
