Barcaldine has a GN volenteer project going for 2009.Projects you can get involved in include;
Workers heritage centre
Cemetery-grave stone restoration
60's & better- DEVELOP GARDEN
St Josephs Primary- Fungas Researcg Program
Lagoon Creek-Tree planting, Bird Holes
Musuem-maintenance of exhibits
botanical walk-replace signage, clear paths.

The town provides a great free camp at llyod Jones weir 14 k's out of town.

Thanks for this info. I've often wondered how to go about getting involved in volly community projects in the towns I'm passing through or camping in.
Vollies are always needed wherever we go.
There is a website listing some volunteer projects around the country, but I haven' checked lately, and as I'm not on the road ..........
