G'day,

From what I have heard around the traps, Banka Banka Station is now closed and up for sale.

Hi john I had some friends stay there on June 16th and said it was pretty full but they dont take bookings first come first serve due to no shows and they loved the green grass sites. So don't know about the for sale and closed thing. cheryl

G'day Cheryl,

My apologies to all forumites, how the hell I got Banka Banka mixed up with Fraser Range Station I will never know, I'll just have to put it down to a seniors moment.

One is in the NT and Fraser Range in WA.  It is the Fraser Range that is closed NOT Banka Banka.

Once again my apologies for the error, I now see the error of my ways and will just go to the corner of the room for a while.

John

I realise these are old posts ( I am a newbie and am just browsing through the posts) but we were at Banka Banka Station in May 2011.

Found it to be a lovely green patch in the middle of nowhere. There is a charge and I really can't remember how much (quite cheap). Water but no power and the water is the best you will find. Clean amenities and some nights entertainment so we were told. No bookings just rock up, but get in early.

We ended up staying 2 nights for the rest and the first morning everyone left leaving us and another couple. The manager baked fresh bread, sausage rolls and muffins for us at a reasonable price. What a treat.! Then at 2pm the vans started streaming in again.

If things haven't changed in the past 12months we found it to be a lovely spot.

We were there two yrs ago and the caretaker was an older lady who told us it is now has a new owner an Aboriginal corporation in WA and she was only there to get the place ready to open for the season and a new Manager was taken over at the end of the month.Im just wondering is it the new Managers cooking. A friend who did stay there last year said you now have to pay for the water but never mentioned any cooking

We stayed at Banka Banka last August. If my memory serves me correctly it was $10 @ head.  There was a campfire for happy hour and the bar was open for this time if you wanted to buy a drink.  No entertainment, don't think there was any home cooking.  Didn't have to pay any extra for water.  If I remember rightly an earlier post said that they had to pay extra to wash the car, but do not recall any signs about this.

I wonder if there are any updates on Banka Banka Station. Sounds a great place to stay.

G'day we booked into Banka Banka for 1 night on 18/7/14 and ended up stating 5 weeks. Great place. No powered sites best water I've come across in a long while. $2 per load washing machines. campfire every night during dry season. bar open approx. 6pm nightly BYO if you want. Self made entertainment. some times entertainment provided it depends who is passing by. Land line pay phone (card) no mobile/computer coverage. Flush toilets and hot showers. disabled toilet and shower and a dump point Maybe not for everyone but we loved unwinding from the world there. Bob and Marie (the managers) look after you. We are not connected to the place in any way just had a great time there.

PS $10 per nite per person don't know what charge for kids. Pet friendly
