Classic Speedway Meeting

Heading up past Dave to Whyalla for a Classic Speedway meeting at Whyalla 30th May.  Depending on rain.
The meeting consists of bikes and cars dating back pre- Rowley Park era.
I'll be assisting with the midgets and my old mate 'Shine"  No 23 who races..oops. does a spirited demonstration with the other blokes.  Heck, these guys 60-70 year olds are as keen as mustard.
He tows his speedcar with a Mercedes MB140D campervan, and I tag along behing in a MB100.

We have a plan of safe storing the midget etc somewhere over there, and continue down to Port Lincoln, Coffin Bay, Streaky Bay, back across inland to Wudina and Iron Knob, Whyalla, pick up the speedcar and then head back to Adelaide.

Poor old mate is scared with the thought of first time free camping, but I have reassured him I'm a light sleeper and will look after him..
Hope he's deaf, because I can sleep on a barb wire fence and cut rail sleepers all night..

This is the last meeting for the season, so is usually a great performance.IMGP2845.JPGIMGP2846.JPG

Come on you SA blokes. You're really making me homesick again. Pity about the cold winters.

Good old Rowley Park. Spent some good nights down in the brick pit.

Say g'day to the locals of Lincoln. It's what I call home, with 1 daughter living and working there. Check out the tuna farm operations.

Have fun. Chris

Hey there Grizz
A fine looking speedcar u have there, I used to race TQs (formular 500s now i believe) till i took a tumble ,brocken collar bone ,fractured wrist and a belting from Wendy.
Up here im Myrtleford we used to run a big meeting: hotrods, tqs, midgets, speedcars, solos, sidecars.  Drivers/riders came from all over Auss.  Was held easter, were u ever here.?
Wouldnt i just love to be there with the old cars,  fond memories.

Enjoy might see u out and about.

 2 more sleeps and counting

Just checked where whyalla was  could just be there, little detours dont hurt
