Wombat, the CTek Chargers are completely over-rated and quite a few are returned, from what I hear.
The Jaycar unit here:

is about the best value unit around because of it's great Pulse. The only drawback is from a permanent connection point of view, once the 240v has been interupted/turned off then it must be restarted at it's switch, and because all multi-stage Chargers require a reading to the Processor from the Battery in order to regulate the charging rate, then it will draw from the Battery if left connected with the 240v off.
The next best option is the Xantrex TrueCharge2 which is around $450 and 20 amp, which may be over the top for your requirements, however it can be permanantly mounted without a worry. One of these two would be the ONLY way I'd go to properly charge and maintain a Battery for the best longevity.

HI, NEWBY HERE, JUST TO SAY THAT I PURCHASED A CTEK MULTI XS15000 TWO YEARS AGO AND IT HAS NOT MISSED A BEAT, IT HAS RECOVERED A "DEAD" BATTERY AND MAINTAINED MY CARAVAN AND CAR BATTERY WITH EASE. I HAVE USED IT ON MY RANGIE'S DYING BATTERY AND STARTED WITHIN FIVE MINUTES AND USED IT FOR A DIRECT 12VOLT SUPPLY. HAS PROVED HANDY TO AVOID RESETTING CODES WHEN REMOVING BATTERIES. IN MY EXPERIENCE JACAR HAVE PROVEN CHEAAP AND NASTY IN THE ITEMS PURCHASED,BUT AS I SAY THATS MY EXPERIENCE ONLY.
