Qld Fuel "Subsidy" Gone

As of 01.07.09 Qld will no longer subsidise fuel by 8c per litre.

Now here's a chance to compare fuel prices between states.
I don't mean the ridiculous outback, way out fuel stops.  I mean the metro and town prices around the country.
If Qld was subsidising fuel to the tune of 8c/litre, how did it compare to the other states?
Your findings please.  Chris

on our several trips south of the border we found petrol in nsw cheaper than in goondiwindi.someone was getting ripped of and it was probably the motorist.so much for the feul subsidy.anyone thinking of traveling to Qld in the near future better do it soon before the entire state gets sold off.

I'm only a "visitor", but I agree. She's selling the state off to compensate for her over spending.
Bloody politicians!

Standby for a news flash " we are selling Australia off " Noted that it's the labor states that have this desire to spend spend and spend a bit more till it hurts .

It's become a regular move by state and federal governments to hand off their social obligations to local government to fund and administer . Next time you look at your local council's expenditure statements for the year just note how many social welfare projects they are involved in that was once the domain of either state of federal governments. They are becoming so bogged down in state and federal responsibilities they have lost sight of their core responsibilities to the ratepayers

Today it's reported Qld's fuel will be 25c dearer without the "8 cent" subsidy.
I don't know about you but my maths don't calculate it that way.
Correct me if I'm wrong. Cheer Chris

We, or someone elects them in, they do whatever they please and don't seem to be accountable ever again. They don't get re-elected, and therefore get away with robbery, and lots of other offences.
Let's bring back, and insist on accountability. Not just pollies, but everywhere.
Large corporations, banks, Telstra etc. Everybody must be accountable to their customers, shop front staff, investors or shareholders.
Where's my soapbox? Chris

Personally, I am glad the subsidy is going. Not saying I am happy to pay extra, but lets face it. The Fuel companies know it was available, so played with it. It was just a scam for all, that we paid for through our taxes.

When a Govn gets involved with a commercial operation, no body wins but big business

I know I will get slam tackled about the above, but you tell me why fuel is cheaper in McKay than Rockhampton. 360km apart, fuel comes out of Gladstone (100km south of Rocky) and travells through Rocky to get to McKay!

Having just sold a fuel outlet, I know the independents are not making any money out of fuel, about 1 cent per litre, while at the same time, the Fuel company owned ones are making up to 20 cents per litre. I have purchased fuel for resale, above what the company owed stations were selling it for. Also I have sold fuel cheaper than them!!! at times. So who is making the money, and where was the subsidy going.

The paperwork involved (for a retailer) was rediculus, and the whole system was open to scaming, neither benefitted the motorist

Its about time the Govn started to concentrated on the problem, and stopped throwing money at it, that was not doing what it should have done.

Blaming the politicians is not the answer, just those that introduced the subsidy to start. Now is the time to get into the pollies about fixing the obvious price fixing, and over charging of fuel. Start by taking away company owned and run, servo's.

My opinion only
