Firstly Kay, a very warm welcome to the Grey Nomads.
Now I know people become emotionally attached to their washing machine when they pack up to hit the road, but why do you want one when you go on the road?
There are washing machines every where in all caravan parks. Most are very clean, and you'd only use it once a week. Or, if you like, wash your day to day stuff by hand.
I couldn't justify the extra weight, nor the space taken up by a washing machine. There are more vital things to pack when you live in a caravan all the time. $3 a week is a small price to pay, and you don't have to pay for electricty, just your detergent.
My advice would be to save your money and use the space for something lighter.
Good luck with that. Cheers Chris

Hi Kay ..  well firstly .. "mine is not to reason why" ...

Welcome to the GN Group .. I'm currently living in the western suburbs of Sydney and have made a few phone-calls without much luck.

The common line I seem to be getting back from retailers is that we don't have any in stock but we can get it in for you .. and of course (2) did mention that you'd have to place a deposit when placing an order ..

Sorry about that Kay .. but will keep my ears open .. nothing at this time !

Jon

You could buy one here online for $368;
http://www.appliancesonline.com.au/p-1660-22kg-top-load-lemair-washing-machine-xqb22.aspx?utm_source=getprice&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=getprice&utm_source=getprice&utm_medium=cpc

Or winning appliances sell Lemair.

http://www.winningappliances.com.au/stores.htm

You are looking for the xqbm 20c I think. I bought mine from the Good Guys but they ordered it in for me.
Perhaps phone Tecmar lemair (02 96081266) and ask if they know who retails them. I know you can get them at Caravan spares and Camec at Ingleburn but you will pay a premium price when the item is sold as a caravan accesory.

As Granny says caravan parks do have laundrys but I found that the washers were very variable and rarely cleaned.
I'm with you Kay, we thow our clothes from the previous day in the machine turn it on and have breakfast, hang out the clothes on our ALDI Clothes line and the day is ours....

Hi Kay, good luck with the new van.

We looked at the Lemair but as we free camp a lot of the time we decided on the
Super Mini which is a very underestimated washer as it uses far less water than the Lemair.  It weighs only 10 kgs, is a twin tub and comes with 12 months warranty. Ours is mounted under the dining table as there is only 2 of us and its held in via a belt type strap.

We've done a few loads at home and it does wash well.

If you have not already decided, go to Top Buy on the net, they have a small twin tub, for less than $200.00, I have seen one and am assured that they are quite efficient it looks ideal for "smalls"etc, and maybe one sheet or towel at a time Might be worth a look. Judy.
