Van Parks - Rockhampton to Townsville

Howdy All,

currently at a park in Claireville 200km north of Rockhampton situated very nicely right on the beach.
What I am interested in is your feedback on parks to the north of here either along the coast or inland that stick in your mind as being just that bit special either because of location or attractions around them.
Don't have any specific direction in mind.
Looking for the quieter small park that may not appeal to the masses.
By the way, if anyone is heading out to the gem fields around Anakie/Sapphire/Rubyvale, I would definitely suggest you stay at the Sunrise caravan park up on the top of the hill at Sapphire. Without a doubt the nicest park I have ever been in.

Cheers
Mark

If you mean Clairview CP, then say gidday to Bub and Dave (managers) from Bob and Monica.

Watch out for their happy hour, they cannot read the clock. Also watch out for the possums dropping from above

Geez Two Bob, you're about 3 hours too late!
I have already encountered happy hour and am now looking into taking a vow of abstinence, if life wasn't tough enough the owners of Sunrise Van park in Sapphire plied me with copious quantities of port last night, have since realised that 60 series landcuisers are not conducive to hangovers - really needed a nice soft, quiet coil sprung car today!
I'll say hello for you tomorrow.
Cheers
Mark

Hi - can't recommend any c/van parks in this area as we haven't stayed in any but we are currently free camping at Bluewater Rest Area 29 km north of Townsville and you would think we are in a caravan park with all the vans, motor homes, buses and tents, of course there is no power but there are toilets, a nice creek running thru, lawns and shady trees and a great 'happy hour'.  We found this by accident as we stopped to have a coffee and saw the vans so went and had a look and decided to stay here for the night which has now become 2 nights.
