I own one of the all-time gas/petrol guzzlers of all time; a 4litre Landcruiser station wagon with an automatic gearbox. City consumption in the 25lt/100km bracket. But, hey, who cares at 39.5 cents a litre (with supermarket docket). Filling the 140lt petrol tank instantly doubles the market value of the car.

Strangely enough, Vic, when the torque converter "locks in" at 80kph the fuel consumption drops considerably. From reports I've read, the touring usage, with 16ft van, could be significantly less than 20l/km. The monster is due for a proper tune-up soon, any way, so that might improve the figures a bit.
As diesel fuel brings me out in severe dermatitis and breathing the vapours will put me out of action for days at a time, it was never a viable option.

That touring/towing usage with the caravan sounds a lot healthier Rolly, I think Jon is offering to pull your van instead if you have a harness available
