towing behind a motorhome

I would like some advice on towing a car behind a motorhome. Thinking of buying a 3 door suzuki vitara and possible using an A Frame set up. Any advice etc would be appreciated

cant see any problem (except the obvious, not able to see it, parking and overtaking) towing with a motorhome

if you could, it may be better to use a car trailer and the extra space put to good use with very little extra size

Cannot store a trailer at home due to space constraints, hence the other options. Motorhome is based on an Iveco Daily 50C18

well I cant see any problem towing the suzi, "A" frame would be fine, just check on the legalitys, weight restrictions of the motorhome towing capacity rating

There are quite a few folks out there with vehicles on "A"-frames.
The 'Jimny" has been a popular choice for quite a few years.

As dave06 says, you'll need to talk with your traffic authority.

You should have no worries with the A frame and the suzuki. I would go for a tilt a trailer single axle, they can be reversed, where the A frame can not and don't take up much more room than a 6x4 trailer

If buy a new suzie look hard at the diesel model well worth a serious look they were coming out some time back so should be out there now.

I'm with you, another trailer is just a pain in the rear end with rego's and pink slips etc, it just goes on and on then you need to store the thing and if on a normal van site your buggered for room Go A Frame

Thanks for the input so far all. I was not aware that you can't reverse with an A frame, hammer, for one. That could be a real hassle! Another thing I read that jimny's cannot be flat towed due to their transmission which was why I was thinking of the small vitara over a jimny [which was going to be my choice originally].

Have,nt reached that discision stage yet,
But if it legal for an A frame in Vic and QLD, and illegal in NSW, how do you get from A TO B ?

Mike. I don't seem to be able to locate a specfic  road rule in NSW that makes A frames illegal , any idea where I could locate it  .

Back in 1999 NSW RTA put out an extensive guide on A Frame Towing  and a comprehensive check list which is still on their website .

You'd have to double check . . but I understand that towing with an 'A' frame is also illegal in WA

I think not.

Back in the 1970's the then RTA refused to contemplate the concept, without any justification whatsoever, but I do believe that a few persistent individuals got the relevant Minister to shake them up a bit.
