Interesting though the diverse postings on this "Solo Grey Nomads" forum may be, many of them are hijacking a thread which was intended, I believe, to be the preserve of topics of particular interest to the 'lonesome traveler'.
Yes, I'm being precious.
Yes, I don't like my butter shortcake mixed up in the tim-tams jar.
Not writing much these days - a bit under the weather.

oh we know full well what the solo's thread is there for, we as a group asked for and recieved it a long time ago, we are sure one or two post's "hijacked" on the odd occasion is not going to kill the solo's thread, we are here to talk, and thats what we do
you found it interesting and it filled in a part of your day and thats what we are here for, to offer assistance to fellow travellers and to talk, solo or not, we are all travellers
an attitude like that would preclude you, as a "solo" from posting or commenting on anything in the general forum (tit for tat) and that is something I would not like to see
I for one welcome the solo fraternity into the general forum, and I would hope the feeling would be reciprocated
the solo platform was introduced to enable the solo's to "get a leg in" to what was predomitably a family or duel travelling forum, it still has the setup for solo's to introduce themselves and to find solace and company within a specified arena of trust and respect,
this then gives insight into connections and the ability to private message each other to gain a relationship with other like minded solo's and I dont mean sexual or boy/girl crap i mean "freindship" and contact outside of their own little world, more often than not missing in their lives
this has been achieved many times over I am very pleased and proud to say
if I have my way there would not be any "lonesome travellers"
Well Rolly, I hope the "weather" doesn't get you down too much. I can relate. I'd much rather be doing kms than sitting it out in town here. I'm pretty sure everyone understands the Solo forum vs the general fourm. It's all relative, and I'm sure we can all learn from each other and share our experiences no matter what our status. Where are you anyway Rolly? Done any good miles (kms) lately? Anything impress or disappoint you on your travels? Keep the faith man. Stay cooooool. Cheers Chris

The weather that I'm under is purely metaphorical.
Mostly it's to do with having to put traveling plans on hold time after time due to health, financial and organisational reasons.
I'm stuck in sub-bluddy-urbia and thoroughly pee-ed off with the prospect of having to suffer the dumbheadedness of the metrocentric mind set for yet another several months.
I'm beginning to despair of ever escaping the mayhem of metropolitan madness.
I'm with dave0 with his assessment of city life: OK to visit occasionally. Very occasionally.

I'm feeling the same about Cairns. One person's utopia is another person's frustration. While I love the climate, the rainfores and the country generally, I'm over the over-touristed city of far north Qld. They so blatantly rip tourists off, and I feel ashamed to be an Aussie when I hear the stories. Never mind, medical results next week, part B of the plan begins, and then I might have a clue about hitting the road time. I can relate to being stuck against your will. Hang in there. If it's meant to happen it will. If you're feeling well enough to travel between appointments, just hitch up and chase the white line for a few hundred k's to escape the burbs for a while. Mind you, if you have to be stuck in the burbs, the burbs of Perth are my preferred option. She'll be right mate. Chris

unfortunately we must "play" the cards we are dealt, sometimes we get "aces" and sometimes we get "jokers"
the trick is to take the "jokers" and still win the hand, sometimes you just got to "bluff" your way through
just sit it out, the good lord has a "plan" for us all, when all the illness is over then we can enjoy the winning hand
wouldnt be dead for quids!!! regardless of where I was stuck, tucker in the belly, drinks in the fridge, good freinds, a warm dry bed at night (barring accidents) and a fantastic country, thats about all we can ever ask for isnt it
anything else must be a bonus surely
every dog has his/her day, your's is on it's way, This I know!! just hang in there
