Just saying hi to all members of the forum. We're an old married couple (him 60 and her 58 years of age) and have been caravaning for several years. We actually lived in a caravan for 2 years when we were first married.
We did the lap last year and had a great time except for the midgies in the north which attacked in droves. :(
We're off to Adelaide in October for Mother's (in Law) 90th birthday and looking forward to our first longer stop of a week of so which will be in Streaky Bay to pick up Neil's sister who has lived there for, I think, over 40 years. I'd live in Streaky if I had the opportunity. :)
After Adelaide we may take a short trip over to Victoria to visit some other rellies (if time permits).
yep midgies in the north and around adelaide, sandflys up through the centre and mossies here and in Darwin, far better to stay home, NOTTTTTT!!!
then of course there are the little flys on eyre peninsula but a lovely place all the same,
streaky is a special place but then we here in south aus. are over blessed with "special" places, makes me sad for the rest of the country, poor buggers, the rubbish they have to put up with

We also lived in a caravan when we first got married for about 2 years as well,and here we are doing the same again. Not a bad life at all, We also had a fight with the midgies and they bite hard. Let me also welcome you to the Nomads. I was living in the house attached to the Streaky Bay baker when it burnt down. It's a great spot. Then I moved to Ceduna, and 4 years later Pt. Lincoln. When I lived in a Broome Van Park my annual neighbours came from Bunbury and it was like a family reunion when they arrived to sit out the 3 months of the southern winter. Bunbury is another nice spot. All too cold I'm afraid. The bones just don't handle the cold anymore. It's the tropics for me. Dave is so parochial, but don't hold that against him. Cheers Chris

Welcome to the forum Neil and Lynne. And I would live in Streaky bay too we built a house there it was finished last year and thought we would move there this year but now waiting another 12 months due to work commitments. Fell in love with the place in 2003 when we did our first trip around oz and bought a block in 2004. Hopefully will be over there at the end of August for a week to get my Streaky Bay fix. Make sure you book if staying at the Streaky Bay caravan park in october it will be packed at that time. Happy travels Chezgo

all I can do is to offer my sympathy as well as understanding, poor man obviously dilusional, but we will put out the welcome mat if ever he comes back to "life" and visits some great country, poor mans unending suffering would be put to ease if he were to come down to "god's second choice"

Chezgo .. I am absolutely envious. If you go into Beck's at all during your stay in August, say hi to Jenny (she's friendly, she won't bite). Would you like to swap a house in Bunbury for one in Streaky?
Cruising Granny (Chris) if you remember the Shell garage (with the White Pointer Shark display), then diagonally opposite is a small shop (now a hairdresser). Would be 20 years ago that my sis in law had a small craft shop in there. Her name is Jenny and she had the shop for 10 years. The name of the shop was Katrisha's (or was it Katrina's?).
We've been going to Streaky every couple of years for the past 30 years and we've been lucky that we stay/park the van at Jenny's. Couldn't ask for more as we have a lovely view over the bay/jetty from her back verandah.
Can't forget the beaut feed of fresh oysters that we always look forward to either.
Neil and Lynne, I will for sure say hi to jenny when Im in Becks. And yes the oysters there are the best our first priority when we arrive in town is go straight up to Toms Shed and stock up on oysters. When our slab was poured we sat on it with a very nice bottle of Wolf Blass gold label and 2 doz oysters taking in the beautiful view. When were over there last october when the house was finished there was a whale in the bay directly in front of our house what a sight that was from the loungeroom window. But no with things like that to do and see I could never swap houses sorry guess you wont get to be a croweater for now. I used to be one (croweater) as well 20 years ago. chezgo
Evening all, a beaut day AGAIN here is Central Qld, sun shining, a gentle breeze blowing , a bit cool as its coming from somewhere SW of us, but thats expected, Spent the day sitting on my bum with a pickle, (cross tween a pick and shovel), idly working my way through a load of gravel ,fully expecting to collect some gems worth a lot more than a weeks wage, , and feeling sorry for all the souherners who have to endure all that miserable weather The facts are clear ,this states population is expanding and they all come from the SOUTH My occupation is so easy we dont need those big , smelly, noisy , machines, after all thats why I am here, to get away from all the noise you city people Have to endure And one of our GURUS some time ago, actually said I was a very lucky fella, living here in the gemfields, Dave,---------------- '' Lovely to hear you laught, I am really glad I have made your day, , they say that laughter is the best medicine , hope this continues indefinatly, but its a bit sorry that you resort to teasing a harmless animal, really hope he catches you
heading north last I heard!! I'd nearly forgotten about them, actually he's another of your mob, taken up residence in qld. bending bananas, I think he was talking about shooting up to darwin and back round the kimberleys, lucky bugger, should be on his way by now, lovely couple!
