Caravan Park revues

Would it be possible to have a section on GNs experience at the different caravan parks they use, I feel sure it would be of great use to other people in planning their routes. If it was not possible to say if they were crap then perhaps a 1-10 could be used with 1-4 meaning the site was crap and you would not return, and 8-10 being very good. I use the RACQ book a lot when travelling but that is not always the best as I feel that its impossible for them to give an unbiased opinion of a site if that same site is spending big bucks on advertising in their book.  What do you think   Keith

May I respectfully direct you to a most useful site in this regard:

RACQ, NRMA Caravan Park Reports are all well and good and allows you to make your own decision.

I for one would be more likely to take notice of my fellos GN's and their first hand reports.

These would not be biased in any way and as each of us has different requirements and expectations, it will still allow us to make our own decisions but based on first hand knowledge.

The better way into Badger's site is Badgers Site. This will give you a bigger window to view it in.

Ma - I take it you are referring to the AAATourism publications that the motoring organisations have their own covers and a few pages added. These only include parks that have paid for the privilege. I have talked to quite a few park owners who have pulled the plug because of the attitude of the AAAT inspectors. The poor information in these publications is why badger started his site.

To all those who use Badger, I hope you contribute. He likes to keep several reports on each park. I contribute if there is no report in the last 12 months. He prunes all the older reports to keep the site current. Also send in a report if you do not agree with the latest couple or things have obviously changed.

Will keep that in mind on our travels Peter and keep a log with the pros and cons and duly make a report on Badger

Sounds good to me!! I have discovered the parks that pay for representation always seem to get rave reviews from people who have obviously never stayed there!

I have found the networked parks eg Big 4, Top Tourist, Family Parks etc have a high standard of presentation.
That's not to say other parks are not of a high standard but it does give a bit of a clue if I'm heading into unchartered van parks. Travelling the way I am, there is not much opportunity to return to a fave park, but a good experience does stick in the mind if I ever did return.
I haven't found the member parks to be any dearer than any other park. I had heard a conspiracy theory that these parks charge more for the "honour" of staying in their parks. So far, in my experience, this "theory" hasn't been founded.
The RAC or similar are only rated on the general park presentation, and the condition of the "selected" park home they are accommodated in during their stay. It's not a very accurate assessment.
Badger seems to have the right idea although I haven't used the site yet. It's another valuable resource for the traveller. Does it need to be duplicated?
Cheers Chris
