The world says I talk too much.

Who decides these things and such?

If I cant speak up for myself or converse with them all

Do I stay silent, and be thought a fool?

 

My life has been solo for a long, long time.

I raised children, managed household real fine.

Running a business and seeking work were up to me,

But how do I do it if I stay silent to please?

 

Who am I pleasing?  Some bloke with an ego?

If pushed, Im likely to tell him where to go.

Speaking up in my own words

Is the only way I can be heard.

 

Buying cars, signing leases and survival

Were up to me, and I managed without rival.

To cope and be safe was my responsibility.

There were times when a partner was the enemy.

 

The world out there says I talk too much.

So who would do it?  Do I need a crutch?

Do I have to have a spokes-man

To tell me when I cant, and when I can?

 

No one can speak on my behalf

To say my words and thoughts, and laugh.

Managing money, the budget and investment

I did it all, and am very content.

 

Of course I sought advice and recommendation,

From writing news, to working on stations.

I learnt all I know by experience and asking,

Sometimes succeeding and sometimes mistaking.

 

So people say I talk too much

When I participate in conversation to discuss,

To contribute and share to be fair

Who knows, you could learn if you listen, and hear.

 

Life is a lesson, some of mine have been hard,

But I survived to share, or advise if asked.

Ive lived a busy, interesting and hard-working life,

Overcoming hardships, challenges and strife.

 

Im a success, to survive this far in my life.

Ive been a mother much longer than a wife.

I dont tolerate fools, violence or abuse

And Ive put all these experiences to good use.

 

Some people say I talk too much.

O while I share and participate and touch

The lives of the people that I meet,

They say they admire my independent streak.

 

Who decides if I talk too much?

Usually blokes who dont want to learn stuff

From a woman whos had to earn

All that she has, achieved and deserved.

Wow!!! The young ones must be very proud of their mum as she certainly is a very remarkable lady. And a very fine poet too.

They don't know about the poetry, but they do know about my travels.
They're busy living their own lives. I don't think they take much notice really.

Granny, you do not talk enough
We all need to hear your stuff
Most of it is though provoking
And we know you are no powder puff

Granny, you do not write enough
So how will will learn, become tough
In all you write we learn and grow
Though on some of us, you are a little rough

So Granny, give it up and do your best
We listen and love it, and so put us to the test

Have you compiled your works into a book Granny? You should do so, your work is splendid and at times enigmatic and quite thought provoking.
