Went for my shower this evening and found a big slice of thick black grease on my arm, ordinary hand soap did'nt make ant difference,so put on some hair shampoo, called "Sunsilk" wiped it off like magic Have put on a thread regarding hand cleaner before using elcheapo $2dollar stuff but I am wondering whats in hair shampoo thats works so well, and what is it doing to this leather (skin) covering my frame ?
Regular hair shampoo from the supermarket has all sorts of nasties in it, including sodium laurel sulphate, which is a heavy duty cleaning agent used in floor cleaning. It has also been tested and found to cause cancer in laboratory mice. Shampoo from the health food store is much safer to use on your hair, so just use the other for greasy clean ups.
hmmmm .. it's been a while since I used shampoo .. I think that was used to get rid of the 'brilliantine' ..
nope .. sorry mate .. can't help yuh !
Brilliantine?????? OMG what was wrong with Californian Poppy?

is that stuff STILL around !!
YES!!!! I actually saw some @ the Barber's the other day.... Normally I go to a place where I can get a "pensioner" deal on haircuts but SWMBO had irked me, told me she found it "offensive & unnecessary" that I bought a tool from my workshop while it's OK for her to spend $80 on a haircut so I rebelled by going to a proper BARBER and had the works ( unfortunatley it was not a Vietnamese barbers shop or I'd have had more that she would have wanted) and it cost me $35 for a hair and beard trim, scalp massage ( absolute heaven) etc and he used Bay Rum and had a selection of "Hair Oil" on sale, said a few "discerning clients" still wanted it....
I wonder if the Barbers shop is still in South St Ulladulla, he was the last barber I'd seen that did the bay rum treatment......

well by that standard i am a heathen, scalp massage indeed, Bay rum!!! By jove that would be spiffing what!!!
when my locks need taming I get out my trusty $29 K-mart special hair clippers (that I have had for over ten years) and do it myself, head, neck, beard, the lot gets the old No 2 treatment during winter and then I hit the No 1 coming in to summer
my young feller gets the same treatment, the dragon wont let me near her with them though, dont know why, she still insists on going down to the beauty parlor, or whatever they call themselves now, and spending a fortune
Short back and sides for me, but I do have heaps of hair to spare if anyone wants some.As for those cleaning products, I think if we just use them for cleaning it's ok, but whatever you do, don't drink them. All detergents have grease cutting chemicals in them. Hair oil, cooking oil, wheel bearing grease - all the same to those chemicals. Please don't ingest or inhale and you'll be right.Cheers Chris

The older we get. the wiser we get. the less hair we get? Is that just a coinsidence? Or is that a conspiricy between mother natue and old father time. At school I used Brylcream (or mother did with me as the victim). Then the 60's came and the Brylcream went.
Are the sixties when Calafornian Poppy came in? I always remember my uncles using these products. The young ones these days think they have the market cornered with hair goop don't they.
