Unfortunately their culture, upbringing and brain washing makes those outlaws unreasonable, and non-negotiable. In their culture, I can't call it a religion, martyrdom is a noble deed.
In our culture suicide is definitely not a noble deed.
Suicide bombers are cowards hiding behind "religion" who will never have to face their victims or be accountable on this earth anyway.
Maybe they will be dealt with in the after life or whatever you want to call it.
No virgins, but all those victims may get their day of justice and retribution. Not for us to decide.
But can you imagine the look on these cowards' faces when they reach the Pearly Gates? They won't get in but they'd have to face their victims first.
In my imagination that's justice. Not for me to judge however.
I suppose the "life sentence" has been determined by a Power bigger than us.

What I cannot for the life of me grasp is how these people who commit these heinous crimes and who violate totally and absolutley the human rights of others have the right to any sort of life. Maybe we should treat them the same as they treat crims in their society, cut of hands, public stonings etc.

Yep you are fairly correct. I would however like your opinion on how this sort of problem should be dealt with. I learned a long while ago that turning the other cheek dosen't work, going in with guns blazing doesn't work, I suspect that the only way to stop acts of this nature that always seem to be conducted by brainwashed relgious extremists is to deny them what they want as an outcome. They want basically 3 things, martydom, notoriety and seemingly the extermination of all those who do not believe in their ideals. Obvoiusly therefore exterminating them only fuels their cause so life long incarceration and denial of their religious regimen would probably be the best punishment if they knew the mandatory sentence was they they had to renounce the Koran and accept the Bible then maybe they would not be so keen. Alas it's almost impossible to reason with any person who is prepared to die for their cause.

To suggest that the punishment fit the crime (capital punishment) in some eyes is to lower our own opinions of ourselves because we are who we are,
However we will always have to have a hangman who will stand up and do the job, whether it be for the backyard deadhead, the hardened criminal or the lockerbie bomber,
With the increasing cost to the taxpayer for the incarceration of same, plus the expence of valuable land to build prisons, the increasing lawlessness that abounds in our society we are long past some reforms being made,
The latest round is to shame and name,----- bloody riduculous
I believe that all peoples in this world love their life, no matter what religeon, politics,or country, to alter somebody else's existence or way of life is wrong, the degree is the moot point
May I suggest 3 levels of punishment
No court cases from now on, just a hearing for the level of the crime against OUR society by a jury system to bring in a level, zero, no crime, as in Neighbour against nieghbour, sort it out themselves, or 1, 2, or 3,
1/12 months for crimes against the community, with a 12 month parole, if reoffend back in for the next level
2/5 years for crimes against the state, again if reoffend back in for the next level
3/20 years for crimes against the country, if reoffend than the next level
Against the world, A quiet bullet, unheralded, unadvertised, unknown, with no further word about it, just disappeared from sight
Of course one of the biggest problems we have is communication,
Now the world is "informed" immediatly of any and all happenings, its not the Lockerbie bomber we are worrying over, its the Journalist who broke the news, and what sort of award he should get,?
T V news are all bad news on crimes against all levels of society,
this should stop as it inflates the desire to do better (worse) by the halfwits who see it
Crimes of all kinds against society should go for the jury system to get a level of wrong, (we all know whats right or wrong) all we need is the level, or the degree of punishment
