Was just typing the exact same question Vic. It's a worry when you don't hear from someone especially when Chris is such a pivotal point of our discussions. Hope everything is OK. Miss her.

Granny is fine, i would say that now her website is back up and running she has her mind focussed on that, either that or her test results have came back and she is in hospital undergoing her surgery, in which case I wish her all the best!!

how is the trip with the motor home going ? are you still within the time frame they allow for travelling.
i followed up on the info. you supplied. might be taking a motor home to cairns in a couple of weeks.

G'day Al, yep we are within the time frame but dawdling is out of the question, we actually looked at doing the cairns thing this time but the dragon is needed at work, I am still on long service but will start the week after next again, I get too bored sitting on my freckle too long, dont know how these forum surfers do it all day

I would recomend taking the vehicle on a return journey, it's a good cheap holiday, we will bring the cruiser back with us this time, a lot later model puddle jumper than I am used to so we will see how she compares to the old rattlers that I once owned, it's worked out that once we regain our deposit and deducting the insurance we did Adelaide - Darwin - Adelaide, ten days for ten dollars, I challenge anyone to beat that price on any holiday!!

the only drawback is very little time in between for seeing sights but we could have arranged a later vehicle return from Darwin, if there was one within our time frame

you wont regret taking the trip mate, any get away is a good one and if it can be done on the cheap then all the better

I join you vic in wishing Chris all the best, we had our moments but she's a great asset to our little forum

I agree Dave, although I have disagreed with her on some things but she is a mine of information (like yourself) and she is nearly always right on the the things she posts.

She is one of the "lights" of the forum.

BTW am I the only one who get's lost in cities? I'm going around in circles in Perth, lovely though it is while I wait for the Fiat service next Tues. After my beautiful, peaceful farmsit for a month around Wongan Hills, it's a bit of a shock - all the noise, traffic etc. and it's only been a few days. Gimme the outback any day.... smile

I was in Perth/Vic Park today Sue at John Hughes looking at the new Sunliner Motor Home, everthing that opens and shuts, rear wheel drive. A bed that you can raise by remote to the ceiling so that you can use a dining table and lounge underneath it and lots of other gadgets.......a bit out of my price range though, I think the salesman said it was $174,000 drive away.......whew. Some of the used MH's weren't bad though, they also had a Mazda T300? converted bus with 123,000 on the clock for $47,000, a 1996 model (2nd motor surely?) Don't forget to have a look at Kings Park at the top of St Georges Tce, plenty of parking up there too for the rig. Hope the service goes well,

Aw, Dave, I have a GPS. This machine has everything. But I don't know how to use it. Have had it on and fiddled a bit but not properly. Considering I Google everything (maps that is), you'd think it would come naturally. One good lesson is probably all I need....but, well I don't like to ask anyone.....(pathetic huh?) ashamed

what brand and model is it Sue, just ask away we will give you an answer, even an incorrect one will suffice, I use mine (naggin nancy the 2nd) all the time (garmin nuvi 760)

take five minutes to learn the basics and it will be a god send especially in the citys

Dave, the program is Marco Polo Navigator 5. It has all the towns including Perth. A touch screen, and I get so far and then I dont know what to touch to move on. There doesnt appear to be an option. And then I get the ****s with it and switch it off! It has a reversing camera as well which can be handy but I dont really need it. So I probably need to be shown. (Im sure dementia is setting in early)

Hi Sue nice to "see" you in civilisation again. I have to agree with that outback stuff. Peace, quiet, lots of life, mostly wild day and night, and no traffic noises and idiots on the roads. I'm still jealous.
Now Sue, you're letting the girl's team down. Just spend some quiet time, you and your GPS and I call it "play time". You can't hurt it and you will work out how it operates. Just have a play. Most have a touch screen so just touch your way around until it makes more sense to you.
I have "Tom", but the dirty little bugger sometimes tries to lead me astray into the scrub on non-existent roads. I have it set to the English male voice. He's the only bloke I take instructions from - after I've programmed him first.

I don't have GPS as I still prefer the street directory or map smile

Our son in-law has a GPS and each time they come to visit it takes him a different route smile

Ah, Chris, you bring a smile to my face. My son turned the female voice off for me. drove me nuts. He didn't have the patience to actually show me what he did. months ago) I will try again but have serious doubts. Google maps has ruined me. But will do as you advise. Hadn't thought of "play time" that's Wilbur Smith, Tom Clancy or Horatio Hornblower for me......however...glad you sorted Bigpuddle, eventually. There's something about Telstra and Bigpond that's an oxymoron but it won't come to me. When it does, I'll post it...glad you're back on line....Sue
