I use an Epson R310 injet for printing my pictures on Canvas untill recently all was going splendidly then I got the dreaded "General Error see your documentation to clear"  Of course it did not matter what I did the red led would not go out. In desperation I even took the thing to bits, cleaned it throughly ( incidentally Windex is the best cleaner) reaasembled it.... all to no avail. Admitting defeat I started looking at other new printers that I could use the same CISS with and found a few.... then this morning I decided that I'd just disconnect it and deleted the software........
Why I reconnected it and reloaded the software I don't know but I did & it's working fine!!!!
I really wish I knew more about computers.....

Ahhh! The dangers of becoming dependent on electronically controlled anything.

In a program of many megabytes, one hiccough between a couple of bits can render the whole box and dice inoperable.

Often on a computer when a program suddenly doesn't work and rebooting won't help the best thing to do is exactly what you did, replace the software, because for some inexplicable reason software sometimes just likes to self corrupt. Also you can go to the manufactures website (of the printer etc) & download the software there (sometimes there may be an update or new firmware to install).
After 18 years of using computers I still don't understand them & usually end up scratching my head in a quandary. Amazing I still have a full head of hair.

Same thing if your modem goes down and you can't access the net , disconnect and leave off for 10 minutes and then reconnect works every time for me . They certainly have a mind of their own

ten thousand lines of information input is required to make a printer "print" one letter out of place and it will not work,

a bit like cloning, keep making copies of copies (and thats what a program does, just keeps recycling) and eventually you will start losing some info and it will fail

you did exactly what was needed, not that I'm an expert on this but it has always worked for me

Does rebooting mean you go and pick it up from where you kicked it to first and give it another wallop?If you can,t fix it, give it a belt with a hammer, and if that doesn,t work, get abigger hammer.BB
