Trip report /09

evileyeevileyeevileye   G'Day to all,   This years trip had us on the road for 7mths , left in March heading south we followed the coast to VIC, by late April & meet the C O L D change with a zero temp the first night.I know now why they all go north for winter,we had the state to our selves.

Upon reaching Sale we we headed to ninty mile beach where we meet a german  couple at a beach c/park on a day trip from Seaspray where they live, they had just inported a Merc/ unimog to build there motor home on .

We exchanged a few ideas & two days later we were having coffee with them at their place with many more  being discussed ,was all good.

Moving on we took in Wilsons Prom, Mornington Peninsula, & crossed below Melbourne to Geelong where we had a week with friends. From here it was the Great Ocean Rd, what a drive it is !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!smilesmile  The laser light show of the Lochard at Warrnambool has to be seen ,it was a wet windy night which just added to the effects .

On to SA ,Fleurieu Peninsula & Adelaide for a week, just when the wild weather struck & tore things appart ,we survived that one. It was time to follow the Murry back all the way to Warrawonga with many great camp sites along the river.

Newel HWY , with detour into Tamworth to catch up with two old school mates, one of which had  a stroke back in mid May,he's just out of hospital & not doing to bad considering.confuse Back to the Newel HWY, Moree,Toowoomba & Gold Coast for two weeks with kids.

Time to move on ,north as far as 1770,which is as far as we planed to go,with some fishing at Baffle Creek,  [very quite ]  ,it was here that we received the call to return home,  [ as detailed earlier ].

We used free camps 50%  of the time. Now it's clean up ,service the wheels, a few alterations as usual & get ready to go north after newyear to chase some more BARRAbiggrinbiggrin  Till then, save travells to all.

What a great way round. Unusual to head south in the cold you have my admiration on that. We live here and we decamped to the Red Centre for a month for some warmth. I agree with the laser show at Warrnambool, the whole museum complex at Flagstaff Hill is one of the best. A shame the weather was against you in SA it is such a beaut spot especially around the Fleurieu Peninsula. Again the "cruise" along the Murray is really worth while doing. We spent some time in Berri on our way north. Delightful area. Personally I like driving up the Newel and we love to stay at the Gwydir CP in Moree. Last time we were in 1770 it rained for a week so we haven't seen that place at its best. A shame that sad news caused you to terminate early, but, you can start over in the future. Glad you made it home safely. All the best.

Terry.
