Gibb River Road

Heading for the Kimberley?
This new site looks like an invaluable source of information:

Cheers, TonyD

Bugger! Now you've gone and made me "home sick".
It's magic country. So much to see over such a vast area. Every kilometre yields something spectacular.
Take your time and enjoy every bit of it.
That site is certainly full of all the information you'll need.
Are you heading that way, or did you just want to share the site's info?

Hi Chris,
Yes, it's a ripper site (I pinched it from the exploreoz site).
I hope to head off north from Perth about May next year, to get to the GRR about mid-June (to beat the hordes and before the European invasion starts).
After that, who knows? There's so much to see up that way and I should have the time to take things easy (God willing and weather permitting, as my former mother-in-law used to say). I've never been north of Carnarvon, so it will all be an adventure.
I have yet to acquire the vehicle/trailer for the trip, but part of the fun of being a recent retiree is having the time to wander around used car yards bugging the hell out of those earnest young men in cheap suits and taking their Prados/Cruisers/Patrols for test drives.
And then there's the choice of camper trailer, and there seem to be almost as many of them as there are football fans in Melbourne.
What the hell, it gives me something to do!
I hope our paths will intersect one of these days.
Cheers, TonyD

yeah the grr sites not bad but it aint a spot on the real thing, the road itself is nothing special just be sure and do the off shoots, be prepared and take it slow, dont become another statistic, watch the rocks after the grader has been through, they'll tear your tyres to shreds

G'Day Tony ,  We done the Gibb last year.& up to Mitchell Falls .

Done a flight  from Drysdale st over the Prince Regent Reserve to the Kimbley coast & back over Kings Cascades,& Mitchell falls, then drove to the falls as well .

Wyndham, must do the fiveways lookout , [ over look five rivers ].

From Wyndham we found a 4x4 track that took us out to the north behind the ****burn Range & came out at the Penticost rv.We think it crossed some of the back blocks of  Elquestro,  that was wild country.

The georges along the way are spectactular ,we olso done the Horrizantal Falls out of Broome .

Great stuff, take your time & enjoy...................................................

Did the GRR several years ago, also Kalumuru and Mitchell Falls. Also the stock route across the blacksoil river flats to Wyndham. I didn't know that the spectacular mountain range there was called the "asterisk, asterisk, asterisk, asterisk-burn range" confuse.

(yes I know the asterisks were inserted by some pointy headed warped asterisk-face at activeboard.com)
