TALK ABOUT SLACK!

Well, haven't I been a bad boy.

My only excuse for being such a poor correspondent recently is that I've been too busy enjoying myself. I have been out of range a fair bit but mainly it's because I've been laying around in the sun and concentrating on getting older one day at a time.

The Gibb River Road was absolutely fantastic and I'll be back there before too long, but I plan on spending three months rather than three weeks. I got down as far as Carnarvon about a month ago and promptly turned around and went back north - it was too flamin' cold! I spent a week in Carnarvon and the temperature never got above about 22 degrees and compared to what I have become accustomed to, that's freezing.

I'm finally back in Perth after ten months and 27,000 kms and my biggest concern never eventuated. I was afraid that I would get bored, but quite frankly that ten months seems like ten days. I'm going to stay in Perth for a couple of weeks to fix up some housekeeping issues (service vehicle and van, re-register same, do my (final?) tax return, stock up the freezer etc) and then take off again. I want to do the eastern part of the WA south coast (Bremer Bay, Cape Arid etc.) and then the Eyre and Yorke peninsulas, but I think I may have to go back up into the desert for a few weeks as summer seems to be coming in a bit late in WA this year. Usually it is quite warm in WA by the end of October, but the cool weather seems to be hanging around a bit this year.

I let the blog get well behind and it has taken me hours and hours to get it up-to-date again, but it is current again now, so if anybody is interested, have a squizz.

Hopefully I'll stay in wireless range again for a while, I found I quite missed reading your posts while I had no reception.

All the best to all of you GN's out there and keep on traveling.

Wondered where you had gotten to.
Check out the Thomas River camp area in Cape Arid NP. The National Parks camp area is on a hillside, with views across the bay - magic place.
Yes, GRR is superb. Done 3 trips through there, now, hope it won't be the last.

I miss Perth. Although I'm a Sth Aussie WA is my favourite state.
Perth is a great city without tollways, and the state has lots of space, and nice people.
I'll be back.
