See you can write hubris which means bullsh it.... So I got dissalusioned with the vast array of windscreen washing componds, fluids, concentrate that all guarantee to get rid of bugs of your windscreen and none of them are that effective.... I decided to do some research ( privately funded of course) and came up with the following few tricks that does work.
1) clean the windows throughly with whatever cleaner takes your fancy and finish off with a papertowel.
2) Mist and I mean mist on some "shower sparkle" or one of the non rinse shower cleaners, but I mean mist.... and once again buff with some clean paper towel, if the window appears streaky you have put on too much.
3) Empty & flush out the reseviour and add about a tablespoon of dishwasher rinse aid per litre of water for the fill.
The Shower Sparkle stops the bugs, dirt etc from bonding to the glass and the rinse aid is a very powerfull wetting agent which when used to clean of the bugs works superbly...
To make your own spot free rinse put a teaspoon of rinse aid in a bucket of water as the final rinse when you wash your car.....
You will have to clean & reapply occasionally when the rinse aid and wipers remove the shower sparkle..... Do try it

Good tips Basil. Good work putting the effort in to 'research' the subject and the products. I may try shower sparkle to keep the rain off the car and van windows - well, the affect of the rain at least. Here in Cairns the rain stains everything
I use vinegar to wash and finish. I also put about a teaspoon of dish detergent in the washer bottle with about a cup of vinegar. No streaks, and the wipers seem to cope ok. If the local water and the rain leave marks and they don't just wash off, I use Gumption paste to polish the glass. Spread it on with a damp cloth and some effort, leave it dry to white powder and then buff off. I use old towels. They're all washed out and not very fluffy anymore, and cut them into good sized rags. Years ago I was a car detailer and used Bon Ami powder to make the paste and polish the glass, but I haven't been able to buy it for a long time. Ajax is no good because it's too abrasive and will scratch the glass.
By the way, I use vinegar to treat sores and scrapes, tinea or athletes foot, infections everywhere. Even in my ears by syringing warm water with a small amount of vinegar into my ears. I also use it for cleaning and sterilising. It's also effective in hair rinse to treat head lice or as a deterrent.

Never thought of using rinse aid. Will give it a go. Anything to make life easier for the wife :)
Keep up the self-funded research activities Bas..................at least till the money runs out.

Looking at these u beut plastic bizzos that you can put over your number plate to defeat speed cameras.... I already have a wax that deflects radar....

IM with IBBO Good ole damp newspaper, followed by dry newspaper, we spent a little fortune on window cleaner as we toured AUSS. Tried every thing so newspaper for this Davo
Gee, Basil, you make a bloke feel his age. I remember Bon Ami very well. It cleaned windows better than anything. Now you buy spray stuff that costs twice as much and works half as well. As our American friends say, go figure. Cheers, Tony

The best windscreen cleaner is and always was castrol but it is only available in 20 litre drums now. All the panel beaters use it. Great stuff used. to detail cars for a living.
Dont know where it came from But i can remember it from 30/40 yrs ago.
