There has to be an income stream to support the cost of this (and any other) forum.
Perhaps you can organise more appropriate stuff?

I've suggested to the webmaster to investigate it's origin and if they're not paying to advertise they'd better start.
Damn free loaders!
If it doesn't inflict a virus or scam on us it's taking advantage of a site they haven't paid to advertise or use.

as peter said to run a website takes money, either sponsorship (in this case) or donation, you want a "freebie" then put up with the ads

talking about unwanted adverts and unpaid advertorial content, your signature chris "tagalong.com", is that not another website not affiliated in any way shape or form with this one, in which case it in itself is an unpaid advertorial

do you not have a connection with that particular website, with your contact with Cindy did you talk about monetary compensation for such an advert, it must be adding up by now, it's been there a while, are you gaining from this site in any way shape or form are you likely to if it expands, with an expanded client base the profit potential is reasonable which is exactly what advertising does

remembering that numbers attract advertising, advertising attracts money!! it may be free to the users for now but it costs money to keep it going

in which case please recall that which you said yesterday about not wanting to belong to a site that use it to gain personal profit,

I of course am deeply offended that you would use a decent website such as the nomads for personal gain

I was out to gain benefit for members not personal gain, goodness me what a hypocrite!

I am not attempting to be controversial or stir any pot, nor am I taking anyone's side, I am simply asking a question.

After reading the above it made me think about all the members who have their own personal Blog web address included in their signature, would this also be considered unpaid advertising.

nothing monetary to be gained in a personal blog page, and I dont see it as advertising, I had one myself but I hadnt the inclination to keep it up, hats off to those who can!

Ozcaravantagalong.com is totally free with NO advertising. ie no income is derived or generated from the web site. It provides a service to travellers only - and it's free.

Pulling me to pieces will only make you look silly.
I'm very proud of my achievements and who I am in my little corner for girls.
If I was a bloke it wouldn't be a problem, would it Dave?
Now knock off the personal attacks in your attempt to make yourself appear to be everyone's guardian angel.
I'm sure my fellow nomad forum contributors are intelligent enough to make up their own minds. Whether it's about "tagalong" or my contributions.
I'd much rather be sharing my experiences and my sense of humour, and I will.

Ozcaravantagalong.com is a totally free site to all users. It's purely a service for travellers. No personal information is exchanged unless the participants choose to exchange it with fellow travellers themselves. The site generates no advertising revenue. Any advertising at this stage is free as well. The only thing gained from the site is profile, and since it was hacked earlier this year, it's been a bit quiet.
I personally pay all fees to retain the site. My job in the partnership is the promotion and administration. The site builder is a friend in Perth.
To take advantage of a free website to promote the site would not be professional. Now everyone knows about ozcaravantagalong.com the way it is. I'm very proud of the concept and will continue to promote it every chance I get. Thanks for your help Dave.
I'm quite flattered, even touched you've spent so much time researching the time I spend on the internet.
If I was fit, able and healthy, and not on a disability benefit I'd probably have a real job, or at least I'd be on the road and not waiting for surgery. Hell, I might even take up header operation.
I only represent myself, and no other girls. Gee when you get it wrong you really get it wrong.
The fact people have left this site is their personal decision.
I would neither take responsiblity nor the blame for their actions. I'm not that important or influential, but thanks for the cudos there as well.
I have enjoyed participating on The Grey Nomads Forum and take every opportunity to promote it to every traveller I come across. In fact I'm proud to be on this site, and I have learned so much, for which I'm very grateful. Thank you everyone.

now you admit that it is in fact advertising and yes free for "now" but in the future with more participants (gained through YOUR advertising on this site ) it will be a money grasping organisation and as far as I can see you are in amongst it

this makes it advertising for personal gain, that which you shouted me down and insulted me for, the tables have turned, I put a little time in researching you to get to know my enemy, my intentions were good, yours were for personal gain! 

now you have managed to talk in a sane, sensible, adult, rational way I will drop it, but just keep your aspirations down to the same level as the rest of us, just simply good input and a jovial,  freindly atmosphere, all at the same height,

there are no "guardian" angels or any thing else in here just people having a yak! about a common interest, no red's under the bed that I can see!

regardless of length of time served or number of posts submitted, we are all equal!
