One for the Grandparents

My only daughter ( I have 4 sons, 2 step daughters and 2 step sons) is due a little bundle of joy in about 10 weeks time. We didn't know what to get her for her birthday so she mentioned a 3-4D scan she could have of the baby so that was our gift to her.
smile
On Saturday at 5pm, her 2 brothers, thier partners, her little niece and mum and dad all accompanied her to have a bit of a gander.  Well I can tell you, what an experience it was, I don't think there was a dry eye out of all of us, including macho dad who insisted it was a bit of dust in his eye..lol.wink

It was remarkable to see this little person smiling, blinking, sucking it's little fingers, yawning and stretching. WOW!! To top it off they give you a cd with over 90 photos on it and a dvd of the event set to beautiful music. We don't know the sex yet, and I was very pleased my daughter did not want to find out as I feel it adds to the excitement of it. biggrin

Just thought I would share a beautiful experience with my dear friends here.

Cheers
Ell

Ell we went through exactly this a little while ago, absolutely bloody marvelous, I know how you feel and it will be awhile before you come down. new life, nothing better!

not sure if you have read my posts concerning our "adopted" daughter, she presented us "grandparents" with a little bundle of joy, little R.J., we also have two grandkids, a boy and a girl, look I couldnt be happier or prouder, you will be feeling the same way and all I will say is "ENJOY"

as for chrissy dinner or any gathering I say the more the merrier

DD All the kids are definitly grown up!!! Said daughter is living at home with us for the time being with her cat and dog. We often have big gatherings as I love it when the kids come home for a get together with thier partners. Unfortunately, my 4 step children don't have anything to do with us as they do not approve of me (thier mum's influence) but that is life. I tell Mick to keep the lines of communication open as one day they will want thier dad and I don't want them to think they can't approach us or him.

Dave, I do remember your posts and think it wonderful you were there for the young lass. It is the most special thing in the world to me to be a grandparent, a job I relish daily. Hope (daughter) is living with us, the father of the baby decided he didn't want to be a dad and that's fine by me, this little bub like all bubs deserve the best in life, and he was certainly not the best, though he was her choice so we "put up with him" for her sake if you know what i mean.

I know exactly what you mean ell, I ended up putting this particular fellow in hospital after what he did, the kiddies will come around once they get over mums influence, dont let it bother you, I know it hurts but try to live with it, what cant be changed must be endured

we have many families at home, all have "stories" the more people you talk to Ell the more "prolific" you realise it is, inside almost every family there are breakdowns, some like me talk about them and I encourage others to do so

I greatly encourage openess on this forum as a start, I also encourage private messaging to like minded souls, whilst I am on this header I miss my extended family so bloody much, little R.J. and Jules have become such a mainstay in my life I am actually fretting for her,

all good Ell!! I'm over the moon for you! a damn good pressie that will last a lifetime!

That is bad luck Ell that the Step-Children can stiil be influenced. I really hate it when people have to be so spiteful. But you can be sure that one day it will come back to bite her.......it always does.
Just keep doing what you are doing and when the kids mature (I didn't say grow up) they will change because if it's good enough for Dad................it can't be bad for them. Until then it is their loss.
