Hi everyone thanks for all input another q we think we have decided on our van a 22ft crusader manhatten but next q is the vehicle we are looking at discovery 3's look nice 3.5t towing which is heaps but have read forums till my brain starts to melt about the mitchel bros hi rise tow hitch and the hr wdh as the car has air bag susp any ideas to stop my eyes and brain hurting cheers all rog and gab
Personally I love the Land Rovers and I have a Disco 2 with all the air bag stuff and find it to be almost perfect..........
They have a few flaws but so do most of the others. I have a TD5 and I'm most impressed with the running gear. I get 10L to the 100 around town and about 12L towing our camper with 4 in it at about 100KPH.
The airbags are good because they will level the vehicle up, no matter how you load it. It rides nice and the only real drama is that it sucks a bit of dust through the back door on the dirt roads.
They seem to have all the electronics worked out and sorted the problems now.
Go for it.......in my opinion

Like Disco Duck, I have owned discos, a D1 and a D2. They are an entirely different kettle of fish to the D3. The self levelling in the D2 only works on the rear suspension. The D3 has magical suspension that has air bags on both axles. You can do things like raise the ride height when traversing rough country - then when back on the main road it automatically lowers to the normal height.
As the suspension will automatically return both ends of the vehicle to the same height when travelling, you will find it impossible to set up any WDH by using the conventional method. LR Australia tell you that in no way are you to use WDH. Using TSA (trailer stability assist) is reputed to overcome the effects of not having WDH, however it is not available until the D4 comes out (see Australian Caravan +RV Oct/Nov issue P62.)
I would suggest you look for a vehicle that you can use a WDH on.

Onya Bob........!! I wouldn't swap mine either. A great vehicle. I don't think they are under-rated though.........not when you consider how many times they have won four wheel drive of the year both in Australia and overseas and they are up against some pretty stiff competition. They have their faults but if you get them straightened out they get pretty cruisey. I'll get mine chipped one day!!
It will do me till I can afford to buy a Disco 3
Land Rovers drivers always wave to each other too..................friendly bunch us lot :)

There's a lot of them around. I hope you find a good one and are very happy with it. An old colleague of mine just bought a 2003 model and is sticking his chest out. A Pom that loves Pommie cars. It is in real good nick. Sorry, I can't help you with what he paid. Anyway good luck with your search.
