Christmas lights

Who is putting up Xmas lights this year? As this is the first time I have lived in a house that fronts a street I bought up big at the ALDI Xmas Light sale and will put them up soon. I have to enquire from the neighbourhood busybody first to ensure I don't break any protocols....

This coming Sunday has been set aside for the Chrissy decs. Will put the tree up and it will be decorated by the person that does it best. There will be lights around the back garden and on the deck. We usually put lights out the front especially when there were a lot of children in the street but they have all grown up now. Last year we were the only ones in our street so I will just decorate the back for the grandees.

Terro.

I'm with you Rolly LOL..........We decorated for a couple of years and then missed for a couple and it didn't make any difference. Christmas was still the same. Still cost a bomb!! :)So we gave all our lights to our kids and let them do their places up.

Daisy decorates a mean xmas tree and the inside of the house is full of chrissy stuff so we figure that is enough. We don't have the room for the whole family to get together so we usually end up at one of the kids places anyway, so nobody misses the lights.

Happy Decorating to all!!

I hope your neighbourhood busybody passes all your proposed lighting schemes, Basil and the electricty grid is capable of handling the extra load when you do your Clarke (Sparky)Griswold imitation

Just bought a light up reindeer that moves it's head from side to side. Gracie had a growl at it despite being able to see right through it....
I'll post pictures of me nude in my tinfoil G string with matching beanie feeding the reindeer alternating current.;..

well they are around here, the first couple of years we had complaints about how the road was so congested, now they put up signs and shut the street down for the kids, great to see! a lot of fun! street partys and a big social gathering!

Careful, dave, rational actions and sanity of that kind can be contagious - you never know what they'll get up to next.

normally to have a street shutdown takes all sorts of applications and submissions but we have a couple of coppers in our extended family and they put in some "requests" all good

I think we have about 5 streets shut down on xmas eve now throughout the city, it's a good thing!

Oh, Basil, please don't put yourself out.
I'm sure our imaginations will create a suitable image when the time comes.
I think Gracie has the right idea. She probably saw the price tag.
My Christmas this year will be very quiet, recovering from surgery.
I was planning to be in Edithburgh or Lincoln, but the surgeon wants to have his way with me first. And not before time! I've been waiting to get rid of the faulty part for nearly 18months.
Since I started this nomadic gypsy lifestyle in '96, I've tried to get back to the family every sceond Christmas. On the alternate years I organised orphans' Christmases for all those who couldn't be close to family for whatever reasons. We always had a great time without all the pretty lights, bells and whistles.
It is a wonderful time of the year, and I enjoy looking at how everyone decorates their houses and gardens, but it's a very expensive exercise to set up and then pay the power bill.
So as we approach the "silly season", bear in mind why.

Three strings of lights across the caravan (flashing if you like).................. a bit of tinsel round the windows. A Rudolph with a lit up nose on the roof?? Can't be too expensive Granny

We dont decorate the house, but sure do love the joy people like you guys give to us with the trouble you go to. My big thing is the Christmas tree.. Must have it and all that goes with it. As you said..... to see the kids faces is just wonderful!! I still looooove the magic of Christmas, Santa and all the hoohaa, and get very annoyed with those that say "I hate Christmas." Either the have no soul or no kids or maybe both!!
