As you will see by the time it is early AM. now coming to the end of a busy night and the thought struck me that, yes the seaon of good will is definitely here. We have been to seven calls over the last few hours and 50% of them were for assaults and all at hotels except for one. The last one took place at 0430, All in the name of fun!!!

Terro. It is a fact of life that you can't "Save fools from themselves".I admire the work you and your team members do for our sometimes sick and vengeful society.Cops,Firies,Ses,Rfs,and all others who give to their fellow citizens without fear or favour.I thank you one and all.Cheers.Ibbo.
Yay Terro well done, I don't envy you the next 6 weeks but admire what you do. was a nurse once but wouldn't have swapped with an ambo fot quids. so cheers to you and yours have a happy and safe holiday
I reckon you started most of those fights just to give yourself something to do, Sir Terro. A bit like the firies who go off the rails and start fires just so they can put them out or be first on the scene. LOL
Biggest problem I think is that these days they mix the drugs with the alcohol and that is not a good combination. Most of the drugs take away the "fear factor" and then mixed with the alcohol.......they are ten foot tall and bullet proof!!
I used to go to pubs a lot, but I am very reluctant to go nowadays. Usually we just go for lunch.
Keep up the good work Sir Terro........

If at First You Don't Succeed.......Redefine Success !!
I was brought up to the benign atmosphere of the British country pub, and arrived in Melbourne whilst the "6 O'Clock Swill" was still current. It put me off Aussie pubs and the pub culture for life.
As time has passed, the atmosphere of the Aussie pub has declined even more, so I very rarely go inside one now.
Most of the folk that I get along with are of much the same mind; and most of them are Australian born.
I join with the others in expressing my thanks to the medical and emergency services who do such a fantastic job of looking after us, and especially those who do so on a volunteer basis. The country would implode without you.
Here's wishing you all a safe and joyous Festering Season.

The news has carried stories about the damn "schoolies". Teenagers out on the loose, unsupervised, and supplied with grog by their parents. What's wrong with that picture? I have noticed the young ones drink a lot of those "energy" drinks like Red Bull etc which contain a huge amount of caffeine. Then they add a little bit of alcohol via shooters - spirits in a shot glass swallowed all at once. Not sipped and savoured. The idea is to get off their faces as fast and as far as they can Then add a bit of chrystal meth or "ice", eccies (ecstatsy) and they go into orbit and have no idea what they're doing and to whom. I love a cold beer, nice wine, and Bundy of course, but not to excess. The down side of drinking is getting drunk. Worst of all, having to ask your mates if you had a good time. Congrats to the hard-working, first line of attack Ambos. Paid or unpaid, ambo or paramedic - they all deserve medals for what they do to prepare a tragedy for medical attention. I hope we are all here after the silly season has passed.

Thanks for the accolades but that is not why I posted this thread. I only wanted to point out that the "festive season" is kicking off really early this year and alcohol is right up there with it.
I fortunately have rostered days off on the festive days for a change. In past years I have taken long service leave to get some time with the family as I and a few others always seem to be working over that time.
Now normal service will resume. Over to you Mr Duck.
Terro.

Right, Terro, but it did serve to remind us that we often take for granted the hazards that you guys face when doing things that we are often reluctant to do for ourselves.
The replies were very much a case of credit given where credit's due.
