Hi all!!

Hi all,

My name is Sandy and my partner's name is Trevor.

We are originally from Bribie Island in Qld and we have set off on our adventure with our little Aussie Terrier Roxy.

We have a Toyota Coaster motorhome and we are pulling a special trailer with all Trevor's sharpening gear in, as he is a saw doctor and tool sharpener.

We set off on October 27th and are so far having an absolute ball on our travels.

Hope to meet you all somewhere on the road.

Sandyaww

Thanks for the welcome,

Yes it is a nice bus, 1991 model but only fitted out 2 years ago as a motorhome.

Business has been great since we left Bribie, pays for the fuel, the accommodation and most of our food.

hey Sandy, welcome to the forum, I am also a saw doctor/tool sharpener with 30 years experience under my belt, how do you get on powering the machines on the road, generator or inverter and how do you attract the business, do you do a lap around the town handing out cards or do you use the "sit and wait" method

I knew a bloke who had an old bedford truck painted up with old fashioned bright colors, he would imediately be recognised for his scissor and knife sharpening, he made a good living out of travelling and sharpening

also the tax man wouldnt like your lifestyle much would he

Welcome from me too.

Don't be shy about joining in the conversations.

That's if you can tolerate the endless and mindless prattle that header drivers, below decks sailors, flat-top fly-boys, temperamental train track layers, and other assorted al-foil beanie wearers, (not me - I have an alloy colander), post here with their never ending diatribes.

Beware of the 'Rolly' shopping gopher that will probably reappear on termination of the silly season.

Hi,

Thanks to all for the warm welcome, I am sure I will enjoy bantering with you all as we travel.

Dave, we usually just try and locate one new housing estate with builders working and they will tell us where the other new estates are.
We just plug into their power for the machinery.
Trevor has been a sharpener for 25 years.
We also have magnetic signs on the sides of the trailer.

Rolly........I strongly object to your post where you claim that our prattle is endless and mindless. I feel very upset about that. How can you say that, when I actually do put a lot of my trivial mind into the prattle that DOES end, when I go to bed?? (You can't hear me talking in my sleep!!)

Hi Sandy, Trevor, welcome.

I guess you are finding out some people here are a tad mad. Ignor them please.
If ever you are this way look me up and maybe you could sharpen my hook.

Look forward to hearing about your adventures.

I wish I had thought of that one. Brilliant in its brevity.

sounds like a good way to make a quid whilst on the road I will take my gear if ever we get going,

the mob who manufacture the phonebooks arent helping us at the moment, they still have our old home address down in the current phonebook even though we told them of our shift, so we are losing custom through that,

thankfully we kept our original phone numbers though so that helped a bit!, council is on our back, they want handicapped parking and toileting for gods sake, the business is pick up and drop off, or delivery

they wanted me to provide parking for twenty cars, hell I wish it got that busy!
