After venting on the Sundowner Caravan Park at Port Macquarie, we feel we must comment on this lovely caravan park which is located about 19kms outside of Tamworth. We had a wonderful 9 days stay there. Internet access was hit and miss so I couldn't contact Kantiki while there, but otherwise it was a lovely park and we would recommend it to anybody planning to travel through there. The owners. Malcolm and Beverley, were very helpful and friendly and the park and facilities were spotless! There are some permanent residents there but they have to maintain their properties to a high standard - no cobwebs or mould on their homes and they must keep their areas mowed and gardens trimmed! Met a couple of local characters that had lived there for 18 years! The local Kootingal Bowls Club had an excellent Chinese Restaurant where at $7.50 a head you got a freshly cooked meal steaming as it arrived at your table. Tamworth was lovely and the Country Music Festival is well worth visiting even it you don't particularly like Country Music. The atmosphere of the Festival and the talent of the many buskers on the main street of Tamworth was well worth the visit!

Re getting a site for the Country Music Festival - We contacted Kootingal Kourt Caravan Park in September and managed to get a cancellation. While there on site two more cancellations happened due to health reasons, so don't just assume you won't find a site. Give it a go! Also, the Kootingal Bowls Club have sites available only for the CMF and the showgrounds at Kootingal also had sites available. Just look a little outside of Tamworth and you might be pleasantly surprised. The drive into town was no problem and we also had no problem finding a carpark, contrary to what everybody was telling us.
Hi there, sorry we didnt get to meet but Im glad youenjoyed the festival. We missed most of it as we had to go to Sydney for hubby to have spinal surgery. Funny to think that when it started about 37 years ago, we always tried to leave to town, now I really enjoy it but I do hate the road closures when trying to get to work. Never mind, a small price to pay for the fun of the festival. I would recommend camping at the council run sports feilds. We often go down there to walk the dog and everyone looks like they're having a ball. And is just on the other side of the main street, so its walk to almost everything. Anything else, and there are shuttle buses running. Lets hope a few of us can meet up next year.
