As the new owner of the Lake Bolac caravan park (Note: effective from 1 March 2010, not before) I like to make you all aware that there is cheap caravan camping on the foreshore of Lake Bolac. From memory, it's about $15/ per day. Toilets are available at the camp sites.
Lake Bolac foreshore committee runs the foreshore parking/camping, but for a few dollars extra, you can avail yourselfs of the Lake Bolac Caravan Park amenities, social gettogethers, camp kitchen, BBQ, hot showers, etc, etc.

Always have my special Doggie Bags, but have another problem. 2 small Chihuahuas' who have never even had a Collar on, let alone a lead. They usually stay in the Van. Get out for nature calls, and straight back in. [Their choice.]

Our little Toy Poodle Sarina, loves to do the same. Which is why we always give the 'Dog Restrictive' venues a wide berth.

2 weeks ago, when I visited last Lake Bolac, there was water (not much) in the Lake. With the rain we were having last week, I expected that some runoff would occur.
I just paid another visit to get some legal stuff done and unfortunatly, there is bugger all water left in it. Lake Bolac had dried up about 100 years ago and then stayed filled up for the last 99 years. Yes there are variations in level due to inflows and vaporization, only to be expected.
Lets hope that the long range weather forcasts are blessed by the Rain-Gods, or else I will have to perform a rain dance (Ladies, this would not be a pretty sight .)
But I suppose it's like the stock market, it goes up, it goes down. I am positive that it will go up again, hopefully soon.
As I mentioned earlier, there is cheap camping at the foreshore, I think it's about $15.00, but as I also said, for a few bucks more you get much more than just a camping spot. We have actually fairly good amenities, childrens play ground and I will certainly make sure that your pooches are looked after when you're off into the NP. Also , I want to introduce a few other things for grey nomads and families, like Pizza night, fresh damper baking, fresh bread baking, etc. Things to get strangers together and part as friends. (In a week or two )
Besides all this, golf course, Bowling Club, Swimming Pool and Tennis Court are all available within about 100 yards at a very small cost. They are owned by the Town, (I think) and are of exellent quality.
As far as doggies are concerned, if they cause no problem, I have no problem, but at my request, they should be put on a leash or kept in the caravan.

the one thing that we found that was ever popular is the "fire pit" with log seating around it, I first seen this idea at cobdogla and thought it was fantastic
the circle would contain probably 30 people seated and the owner used to stoke up the fire just on sundown, we had roast spuds and many good happy hours around that
a damn good way to get strangers together and make a happy park!

Vhat is going to happen is this: 1. I vhill put in se fire pit for all to enjoy, ja! and you vill enjoy it too, ja! 2. I vhill make it veryy comfortable for all to sit, but you are allowed to take your very own chair with you, ja! 3. If you want to sit on a log, I vhill provide a log, but better to bring in your easy chair, Ja.
