Anyone interested in a trip to South Australia, wine tasting, The Fluerio Peninsular, Adelaide, Port Pirie, Burra, Clare valley, Port Augusta, Flinders ranges? maybe meet up with the Duck and Dave, we may be able to convince the Duck to show us the sights of Adelaide and Dave could give us the Port Pirie tour...

We would travel independantly to a chosen location then by convoy.

Just a feasibilty study at this stage timings etc would depend on whether Ducky and Dave would be available to participate...

Dave would you be able to help out in your inimitable manner?
Ducky could you show us the highlights of Adelaide by streetcar?

You forgot Pt. Lincoln and Yorke Peninsula - but then again, you may not have forgotten them.
I'd do that trip if I was in the neighbourhood at the time. It would be a good chance to refresh my memories of good old South of Australia.

Basil not sure what Hotrodbus is doing, I don't want to step on any toes, but if you do decide to bring a couple friends down then allow at least six months for this area, you'll only need a day trip to Adelaide! LOL!

you could mess about with cooking wine or vinegar from mclaren vale but if you want good drinking wine then we will head across to the barossa and clare valley

you've limited me to north of clare after giving ducky Adelaide and the hills environs but I guess we could still manage to put up with world heritage areas such as wilpena, the peninsulas, yorke, eyre, flierieu as well as the worlds best fisheries around the bight

you haven't included kangaroo island on that trip, thats a week in itself, yorke peninsula with browns beach and port Vincent and corny point is another week mount gambier and the south east is another week!

I have lived in WA for 32 years now (ex South Ozzie) and Lynne is a Sandgroper and neither of us realised there was something similar here.
Goes to show that you don't even know what's in your own backyard.  Next time we're in Perth we'll have to take a quick trip up to King's Park (cringe at the thought of traffic) for a look.
Well done Ma, I couldn't have come up with a photo from our collection, not unless I had a week to look for it that is.

For the uninitiated, a person can stand at the base of that dam wall (no, I'm not swearing) and someone else can stand at the other end, 200 - 300 metres away and hold a conversation in whispered tones - hence the nickname Whispering Wall.

It is a quirk of the shape of the wall which someone more educated than me may explain!

I know exactly what you mean, Denise!  We don't like the hot weather either.

We're only a 2 hour drive (187 kms) south of Perth and it can be up to 5 or more degrees cooler between both cities.  Being a coastal city helps a lot (sea breeze).

We couldn't bear to live in Perth again, the heat would get to us plus living there would drive us around the twist.  hmm

Me shy,no way.I do have an aversion to travel in convoy.I like to be my own master and stop or go as it pleases me. Most of the Caravan and Rec vehicles that I have seen or had the misfortune to be held up by would be better off just meeting at fixed point or venue.Having said my little bit I know that some clubs enjoy the convoy experience and good luck to them.One mans meat is another mans poison.Cheers.Ibbo.

Of course one could join and leave the convoy at any time or simply meet up with it at the evening stopover.  Just a suggestion Ibbo.

I'm with you Ibbo. No convoy for me, but if I knew where the meeting place was I'd lob in my own good time. More adventures to share if we all come from a different direction.

Oh, by the way, you forgot about the wineries around Lincoln. Boston Bay Wines do a great Merlot and Merlot blends. Mmmmmmmmmmm!
I've seen the moon rise over Boston Bay from the winery verandah after lunch.
A great view, and even better with my wine glasses on. Heh, heh, heh!

I have sat on both sides of the fence having been with quite a few "convoys" and also on our own many times, the "group" or convoy can be great but can also be a catastrophe, what happens in here is exactly what happens "out there"

personally i prefer the idea of meeting at a specified place (c/park) have a group hug then travel separately to another specified place and time (winery) then regroup at another position and regroup at night for drinkys and to discuss the day

I have taken many groups up north and have been unable to do this (travel alone then meet up at a given destination) to a large extent but the smaller ones I have taken around "locally" have done this and has been a roaring success

everybody still friends at the end of the day, convoys or groups or whatever you wish to call it often ends in tears

doesn't bother me though I've seen it all before and know what to expect, so quite willing to put together an itinerary for you fellers but I cant guarantee we will be there

as soon as I shut this thing down (about Wednesday, YAY!!!) we are taking Lynne to town for a final exam, staying a week to look at the pandas and the markets and "other stuff" then take her home and I am going fly fishing for a week, we don't plan to be around much in the future,

Ok so how about the spring of 2011? This will give me time to get my new knee fully operational and allow plenty of time for planning....
Keep the suggestions flowing...

I'm thinking maybe along the lines of a timetable with a list of destinations and we can meet up for various parts, travel either together or seperatley. This would work better as we would have people joining in from different locations at different times. Just do bear in mind that if we can organise to make "group" bookings things can be got at considerably cheaper cost....

There would be activities planned but no compulsion to attend and how you travel from one place to another would be entirely your own decision.

There will not be any need to erect central marquees or such, just an invitation to join in and enjoy....

I would also assume that this should be "pet friendly"?. Meaning that you can bring your pets and any planned activities would hopefully be pet friendly but with the numbers of people we may be able to work out pet minding roasters...
