Being 51 I'm too young to have much of a memory of Woodstock when it first happened but have a recollection of when our parents were out my older brother hooking up some speakers to the TV & us watching the Aussie equivalent of Woodstock, Sunbury.
I did end up going to the Tanalorn Rock Festival & 2 Narara Rock Festivals which were big 5 day rock concerts in the 70's, all 3 within few 100klm of Sydney. They had great music & I never saw any trouble or fighting there but every sort of drug going at the time.
I have on my computer(& travel with) a music concert collection including the movies 'Woodstock' plus 'Woodstock The Lost Performances', the Isle of White Concert 1970, the Monterey Pop Festival 1967, the Newport Folk Festival 1963-1967 & of course Sunbury. I also have concerts of other individual artists from the 60s & 70's like Cat Stevens & Simon & Garfunkel, Presley, Eagles Supertramp etc, (sorry no BeeGees). Also have a large audio collection on the computer to travel with(which does include about 25 BeeGees songs) so you better not camp too close to me if you want peace & quiethaha Don't worry I am a considerate camper.

How can you call yourself "considerate". Considerate would be hooking up external speakers and crancking up the volume to full bore. Now THAT'S considerate. LOL

Strange World we live in.I thought that I was the only one who sits glued to You-Tube going back through all the old favourites,Eddie Cochran,Janis,Brenda Lee,wow once you start it just goes on.Strange violence was never part of our picture growing up,the fisticuffs but not the crap that goes on these days.Back to the Everley Brothers,Slim Whitman,Jerry lee lewis,Gene Vincent,The Shadows.brings a lump to your throat lol.As they say ,thanks for the memory.Cheers.Ibbo.
SBS and ABC often have great programs on old bands etc. Watched one last week on the Small Faces who you will remember was a pommie group from the sixties. So what if drugs fueled the imagination for them to write songs. The results are legend.
well inever knew it was magic mushies thanks for that either way what a great movie alice in wonderland was ,and if it took them magic mushrooms to do it , made plenty of money lol
yep i love all the old music,by the way hylda and jon i dont think you would get rid of me near your van with that kind of music playing ,ide park right near it and break open a bottle of jim beam or wild turkey and do the stomp lol lol lol.
Van morrison is one of my favourite singers ihave heaps of his cds, saw supertramp when i was fifteen had to be one of the best concerts, saw brian ferry he was good too ,also saw santana when i was fifteen, loved them all , havent been to a concert in years now, waiting for eagles to return and i dont care what they cost im goin and thats that.
last concert that i remember seeing was garth brooks and i also went to sydney to see crosby stills nash but without neil young was a fantastic concert, one i will remember forever was melanie who wrote the song i rode my bicycle past your window last night ,she cameout sat on a stool and played there were so many hippies at the concert i was in awe ,they look like they had come out of the hills of nimbin (being an old nimbin liver for 12 months in my time )well 5km from there anyways , when i was 23.
She was incredible and sang like no person i had ever seen doing it just on a stool by herself . i love the old music its nothing like today stuff
Glassies if we're ever in the same park you're welcome to join us for an extended happy hour/nostalga night & since I'm not a beer drinker I'll definitily be joining you in some Jim Bean(Black preferably as I like it better than the Turkey). I havn't seen a concert for many years but in my time among others I saw Pink Floyd,David Bowie,Elton John,Dire Straits,Suzie Quatro and planned to see one of my favorites Jethro Tull but he broke his leg on stage at the previous concert that I decided not to go to because the seats were to far back & he called off the concert I had tickets for so missed out on that one. If our timing is right we may be going to a concert at Cassegrain Winery near Port Macquarie to see Michael McDonald(from Doobie Bro & Steely Dan), Boz Scaggs & Mick Fleetwood Blues Band on the 28th Feb
BTW Hylda is a complete Van Morrison finatic....I don't mind him either & put about 20 albums of his on the computer. for her.
