Why does it have to be so ruddy hard to buy a new car? We don't want much, 4x4 diesel Auto big enough to tow the van (17.5ft). Looked at a few, been for a few test drives and liked a few.
The problem is we have a budget and I refuse to go over it, but all these new cars have so many "optional extras" that cost a fortune!! That is not to mention the pushy bluddy car salesman!!
I have given up and told Mick to just go and buy a second hand car I don't care anymore!!
yep I know what you mean Elle, we looked at the new yaris 5 door manual $16,990, but mother wanted automatic which bumped it to $19,990 then mud flaps and floor mats and this and that it finished up at $26,900, even had to pay for a REAL spare tyre, the one that was in there was A SPACESAVER

We were in the same boat recently. The new caravan when loaded pushed the legal towing limit of the old 4x4 so an upgrade was the only choice. $26700.00 later a second hand 2005 Jeep Cherokee (however, with lower KM's) is our new towing vehicle. We really did not want to spend the extra $ but had no choice. What you are saying is so true, and when it comes to the back yarder doing a basic service they are making it even harder due to the hi tec electronics fitteed to the vehicles :(
G'day flyboy,i also recently bought a jeep cherokee 2006 2.8 diesel. A great tug and very fuel efficient.10l/100km around town and 8.6l/100km on the highway.I have yet to test it towing the van. And by the way it's an auto.
how about the price of acommondore or falcon, supposed to be a family car. I think they base prices on the average income of the top 10% of incomes. Thats why i,m still driving a 86 model. At least i can fix it.

Hey Milo, that is what we just ordered. I love the way it drives and feels. Plus with all the optional extras we got we still came out at just under $40 thousand so we were very happy.
Just hope and pray those of you with the Jeeps do not have the heartbreak we had with ours. Also if you are still under warranty and using level rides do not tell Mr Jeep about it. The owners manual says only use Jeep genuine gear and they do not make level rides.
