In February 2010

Here I am in Armidale.  Too late to see much of the town, although what I have seen looks good.

Have booked in into the cheapest Van Park I have ever been to. $16 for a powered Site.

Where? 2kms up the hill from the centre of Armidale. It is fairly big, clean, spacious and quiet. Many biggish rigs here. They have many drive through sites which would make it handy . No concrete slabs, but hey, I can step on grass just as easy. Free internet, mobile signal good, and shower block open 24/7. The air is crisp and will no doubt help with snuggling in tonight.

Am enjoying my evening tipple before dinner.

Thanks for that bonza description, but now I'm cranky.
Cranky I can't do that - move on and park somewhere else.
All these wonderful stories are just making me jealous - but in a happy way.
It really does sound like a really nice spot you've parked yourself in. Enjoy.
My turn will come again.

Thanks for the info Beams it's very handy to know,. We will be doing the waterfall Way drive in 2 weeks so will drop into that c/park. Could you enlighten me as to which one it is as there are 3 C/parks in the Armidale area? unless it is on the only hill going from the centre of town, maybe the direction from the centre of town would help.
Cheers
Jon

Hi Beams,

I'll be in Inverell (NW of Armidale) next weekend (24th/25th Feb), most likely staying at the Inverell Caravan Park. Travelling in a white Pajero towing a Goldstream "wind-up" camper/caravan. Will travel from Newcastle via Gloucester, Uralla and Bundarra on Thurs 23rd.

Jim

PS: Is the CP you're referring to the Highlander Van Village ?

There's something weird going on here....whenever I visit or return to this thread the following "nag" screen appears....

CMCA nag screen.jpg

Did someone cut and paste something from that site to here ??????  just asking..... any computer types out there got any idea why????  It only happens on this topic, no others on the forum.

It is the Highlander Van Village at 76 Glen Innes Road.  As you say, up the Hill and next door to a big motel.

I hope I am not breaking any rules by being so specific.  If I am, someone tell me please.

I have umpteen books to pick a place from but I think nothing is more accurate than a personal view.  If you want any othe info let me know

Hi Jim,

Yes, right again.  It is the Highlander Van Village.

Looks like we are having some kind of a race Jim.  You are starting about a week behind.  I have changed my plans now to go through Orange to meet old friends who had sold up and planned to tour for a year.  Four years later they are still out there!!

I expect to be in Melbourne till about 20-22 March then meander upwards.  Maybe we will catch up then.  Do keep in touch

Agree, nothing like an independent review or recommendation. I'm happy to recommend the Inverell CP as I have done above.  It's many years since I "did" the waterfall way.  Take your time, and explore the "by-ways" as there's some spectacular scenery out there

That is my aim, to go via the road less travelled.  Unfortunately I do not have an off-road vehicle, so cannot venture too far.

Yes it keeps happening to me to.
It's a littly worrying because the wording is weird.
It looks like someone is trying to confuse everything.
I've had 2 messages in about 10 mins, but the working is not correct.
Be very careful. It may have a virus or worse if you investigate further.
I don't think it has anything to do with CMCA.
Maybe it requires further investigation by the webmistress.
Please treat it very carefully.

If you read the "CMCA" pop up, there's something not right. This just popped up again.

Thanks for the info Beams, I'll be there early to mid march if anyone else is passing through.
And yes I have that same frustrating popup as well, maybe our illustrious webmistress can shed some light on why a log in  to the 'CMCA is coming up on this caravan site.

Very good advice Jon,  It pays to be suspicious.  My user names and passwords for any banking sites etc are quite different to the ones I use for access to sites like this one

This started for me yesterday and I did type in my details, I think I will now go change my password etc on this site. Not very impressed to say the least, it is very bizarre.

Has anyone asked Webby yet what it is?

Thanks for the vote of confidence but I think most of the Nomads are quite capable of keeping themselves in line, most of the time. There are the occasional bloopers but they are soon smoothed over.
Besides, I don't want the responsibility.
I'm retired, and that means I've been tired over, and over, and over again. I haven't been to Tyre Power, but I have a spare tyre they may be able make some use of.

In "Beams" original post there appears a box with a red cross and .

Right clicking on this and then selecting properties shows that this is linked to
an LOL icon on the "cmca.net members forum" which is why the pop-up asking for CMCA forum sign-in appears.

"Beams" just needs to delete the hyperlink to this icon.

Probably not a lot Cindy can do as this forum is hosted by a third party website. Maybe "Beams" could "re-post" it, perhaps either here or as it's now a couple of days old maybe under the "Free/Budget Campsites Suggested by our Contributors" section where it will be easier to find for future reference. At $16 I think it would well qualify as "budget".

Last night and tonight I've been getting the box that appears to log on to the cmca members site. I think it came up on another site last night.

Wondered what was going on.

Cheers,
xina.
