Can I leave my Bulls Head on my car when I am not towing my van for a couple of months ..or how long can I leave it on .. being a solo atraveller I find it very hard to undo and do up but I am concerned that it might get rusty between the tongue and the bulls head ..also by leaving it on I think it makes for a quick get away when the bug gets me ..thanks everyone in advance....A bull head is the triangular thingy that fits between the towball and the tongue ..it has 2 holes in it which the sway bars fit into..it was called a bulls head on some other carravan site sometime ago .

Aw Seonau you just had to say it. It's really a good line, but I can't tell you that or you'll get a swelled heat.
I take my bulls head out if I'm parked up for a while, like I have been for the last 18 months. I wrap it up to avoid getting grease on to everything in the van's boot.
I don't have any problems fitting back in again.

I am not sure on this but I reckon I seen it somewhere that to leave it and the tongue on is actually illegal but rarely enforced, the mirrors are a definite no no and will be enforced
I heard its illegal to leave them on to.....besides I hate walking into the buggas anyway...I saw a 4x4 recently.....their's was left on.....wouldnt clear the CP speed humps.new on road vans drawbars are very close to ground
Duckbars ibbo ? we are off topic, which makes me think.....
If you cross a duck and a bull what do you get?
Well certainly not milk and quackers.
You're getting good there with the one liners. Another good one. Have you been rehearsing in front of a full length mirror?
My bull's head is slightly larger and heavier - it's the Haman Reese configuration. It weighs heaps, so I have to keep my strength up. I remove it if I'm parking up for more than a few weeks. If laughter's the best medicine and good for our cardio health, keep the laughter coming, please.

spoke to a copper mate who is up here feeding the fish with me and he said it's a no no but rarely enforced, but catch a young copper on a bad day and you will wear a fine apparently!
Thanks Dave06....will remeber that ..and yes it is so tight Milo thats why I would like to leave it on ...not sure where the grease is though Granny as mine doesn't get greasy am I meant to give it a grease up.

It's steel, it needs to slide in and out of a tight space, it's subject to friction, so I grease it. Abrasion and rust are the enemy here. The reasonably long square shaft (almost a foot) is held in tight and can be quite difficult to slide in and out without grease. Because it's so heavy it's much easier if things slide smoothly rather than wrestling with it and causing myself serious damage. Grease does not make it slippery as it's viscosity is quite sticky real good grease. Also my van is always out in the weather so it's another rust preventative. I just used this logic when I decided to grease the towing shaft on both the bullshead and the tow ball for simple, little tow jobs.

I bet you're a whiz at cryptic crosswords too Granny
I do ok. I love 'em! Your van looks similar to mine - Roma, but mine rides a bit more level than your's appears to do in the pic. That's what the Hayman Reese gear is for. Just don't walk too close to the back bumper of my 'cruiser when it's on. Ouch!!! (And other words I won't use here, but I do speak fluent paddock French.)
