Hi - just registered - and to introduce myself - my name is Julie, I have a Nissan Terrano II, and a 4.3 Coromal pop Top - at present living in my daughters yard, till I decide what and when and where I am going, just trying to keep myself busy - my husband passed away last November, and I am still trying to come to terms with that, but intend to do some solo travelling in the future.  I am in SE Qld south of Ipswich, anyone on here from round here?

Hi jules.... Good onya! and welcome.

There are quite a few here, near where you live too, who will with no doubt at all soon be flooding you with invitations and suggestions.
Its what makes this forum so famous...the friendliness and helpfulness found here..

Look forward to hearing about your adventures.

Hello Jules and welcome. It's great that you're not sitting on your hands.
Having plans to plan and act on will help you deal with the tragic loss of your husband.
I guess it's hard to move on, but move on you must. And it looks like you have a positive plan.
Did you have plans to travel together to places special to you both? Do you have a desire to see special places?
That would be a good start.
Enjoy your time with family while you adapt to your new life. It's a big job to move on and you can only do it in your own time.
All the best to you and have fun with those travel plans. Chris

Great to hear from so many lovely people - as I said I won't be travelling until later in the year - still have to finalise some things - and yes I do intend to go some places that John and I wanted to go together - I may, only may, at this stage be doing Simpson crossing in August - with some mutual friends - and from there will see what life brings.
cheers

Hey Jon, I use to live in Berrima many years ago, my husband and I owned the Colonial Inn, which is the restaurant next to the goal.  It has a new name now, I have no idea what it is.  In the room closest to the goal is a trap door to a tunnel, which goes over to the goal.  It was used to transfer people from the goal to the inn. Now blocked off.  In those day is was called Breams Inn and was owned by a lady who had 7 or 8 husbands ... yeah true.  She was the first woman ever hanged in NSW for poisoning those hubbies.  The story goes on a misty night you can see her ghost walking up the front steps.  We never seen her but we did have strange things happening in the house at different times.  Never did find out if it was our kids or one of the staff playing tricks on us.

Hi everyone, I'm another newbie to register. I drive a Falcon, towing a Little Robin Mini, lowline poptop. This is my third van since I retired. I don't go huge distances as I have an ancient mother in a NH with only me to do the getting and visiting. I live in NE Vic. Got as far north as Moree once, chickened out and took a month to get home. I've also done the Great Ocean Road and been to Broken Hill. Travel is a mix of on my own or with a caravan club. Depends on where they are going, and my mood at the time. Also go south to visit family.

And a welcome to you Denninelli from me too.
Your time will come to travel whenever and wherever the mood takes you, but first things first.
All the best to you.

Welcome erehwon.
Ask away. Someone sometime will be able to answer them.
I have one of those camp stretchers with the "lid", but I haven't used it yet.
I bought it in case someone invited me or decided to join me on an actual camping trip.
I live and travel in my van full time, so a camping trip for me does not involve the van.
Anyway welcome, and feel free to ask those questions.

I am a newbie to julie I am getting ready to head off later in the year looking for warm weather. I am down south and winter is coming on so I need to go north for a few months to warm up. We might cross paths. All the best in your travels.

Hi all newbies,
Looks like the roads will be getting crowded soon as we all head out :) I have just had my UHF/CB fitted and would like to know what the GN channel is ?
Cheers

We tend to stick to CH 40 Allara, simply because you get good road info from the trucks.  You just have to keep a deaf ear sometimes though with the bad language (which we find is mostly in and around the cities - the country blokes are OK)

A lot of others use CH 18.

A friend of ours just scans most of the time and picks up when it's appropriate.

Thanks Ma,
I was listening to 40 as that is what the fellow that installed it had it tuned to but the language was very off putting, I was close to Sydney though. I will try 18 next time, I suppose you could have it put on the back of the van, next to the GN sticker so we could recognise and contact each other while on the road.
Thanks again
Allara

Hi Lilly
You should talk to Mazab on the 5th wheeler thread, she's new too and thinking about travelling. You could do research together.
Cheers
