I have looked here and i have looked there and i report to you all no where looks as good as the GNs !
Been a few punch ups i note of late and the mod is getting tougher but thats all ok...such is life! When its all boiled down and its nearing bed time as long as the bakery still has some flour left for tomorrows real cream buns then hey....why worry?
I will be sitting in the back ground reading all your advice, but i know while my intensions are to be silent reality says otherwise.
Not being strong on the personal details i guess will make people a little cross but give me time and i will improve that, just want to be careful.
Hi Paddy and thank you for the welcome. I thought there for a long while i might have to log back in and greet myself.
Yep i do like fishing...why you ask? in there some sort of sinister undertone in the question i am missing? Anyways thank you, nice to be here and finally make contact.
My apologies for not responding earlier .. I'm glad Paddy's into fishing also. I recently threw (3) back in as they didn't quite make the 60 CM mark .. Thank goodness there still are fish 'n chips available to meet the 'short-fall' here ! Enjoy the group ..

A friendly question - sinister? Why even look for anything sinister on such a friendly place you have chosen to be part of? If you've been watching for a while you would have a good idea of what this forum is really all about - sharing, comparing and friendship, with the occasional glitch. Let's lose the glitches. I hope you enjoy your stay.

I didn't cast the aspersions. As far as I'm concerned everyone is welcome, and ultimately it's up to everyone to make it happen. Did I see your welcome Jonathan? I'm trying to keep the temperament positive. That is, I'm trying to lose the "sinister" suspicion about everything. Hasn't there been enough negative inuendo here recently? So, smile, Jonathan, Capt Cream Bun, Paddy and everyone. Let's have some positive, constructive, good old fashioned fun!

Hey jonathan and Paddy theres not a lot of fishing talk that goes on here maybe we could help start it off ! Sort of ill show you mine if you show me yours...secret fishing spot.
Thinking jonathan you should of kept the under 60cm.s and used them for live bait ! what were they anyways?
I am sorry Granny to upset you ...its only now i see there are smileys available to use i should of put one in...my mistake....... Thank you for your terrific welcome !
J and P i spent a few days hiding out in a country town a few weeks ago and met an old ruff and tumble miner( like you do) at 4 in the morning fishing off a jetty catching squid when others around were having O luck. Wandered up to him had a bit of a chat and i made a new friend. We spent the nest two days, or rather nights together. Hes got a fishing secret for catching squid that only he and i know !!!
Oh well of to the cupboard to hide while peeping thought the key hole. Sorry i upset you on my debut, Looks like I better keep quiet after all.
Still a 'wannbe' fisherman here, mate .. Its been a long time since I knew what I was doing in fishing and now taking the time to learn again .. but really enjoying it.
Born and raised in New Guinea, I spent many hours with Dad as he 'skippered' his ships up and down the coast .. always trolling some 200 lb lines out the back .. A long time ago .. pleasant memories, and now back into the learning curve here on solid ground with lotsa time to do it .. its all good !
Nah Cap'n .. they were Cod Trout .. well protected but increasing in numbers which is a good thing. That was on the Gwydir at Bingara on the Fossikers Way, NSW ..
Hi Jonathan. I had never heard of a fish called Cod Trout so i looked it up. Very glad you put it back, what a fish! and what a catch, be it temporary!
You know old mate when i hear little representations about peoples lives that read like the note you made about New Guinea it gets my mind racing. So many people could tell fantastic stories about their lives which would be of interest to many. I for one would love to hear about some of your adventures while travelling with your Dad.
My Grandad some times talked about how it took him a week to travel from Victor Harbor to A delaide, a trip that now takes 11/2 hours. Mind you by car not ox and dray !
Gee, that road from Pt. Noarlunga to Victor must have been improved a lot to do that trip in 1.5hrs. It used to be a long, narrow, winding road the last time I did that trip. Yeah, years ago now. I had a look around Goolwa again about 2 years ago when I was actually parked up at Avoca Dell at Murray Bridge. Went over to the island for the boat show. The road from the Bridge to Goolwa was pretty good these days as well. Nice drive. It was sad to see all the dairies gone to wrack and ruin. No cows, no dairies anymore.

Too many stories to relate here though .. basically, my folks were in the Lutheran mission in New Guinea both before and after the war .. Dad was skipper of numerous small vessels that moved along the north coast up as far as the border .. Another posting brought us back into Australia when I was aged 5 to 9 to Hermannsburg in Central Australia .. then back after that to PNG again .. then finally to permanently settle here at age 16 ..
Hi Ginger.... Jonathan. Old smiley face i would be interested in hearing some of your tales ! Perhaps a great way to start up a blog! I for one would be a follower...maybe think about it. ccb
Thanks Jon. I knew there'd be some sort of boarding school involved. I went to Imannuel in Adelaide for 2 years. Not my favourite time of my life. Safe travels.

Hi Peter...welcome. I'm new too and like you have been watching was goes on here. I've jumped in and will join the Mudgee meet - I'm a lot scared - but hey....nothing ventured...... take care....cheers Rainey
I think Rainey a lot of fun to be had sitting around in deck chairs eating a little drinking a little, telling and listening to the biggest bull****e stories you have ever heard !
It is my experience put a mob together and in one corner are the men and in the other are the rest, just stay away from the B.B.Q. and you will be safe
P.S. And of course when the first tipsy guy falls out of his chair cause he was leaning back to far laught loudly !
Hi CCB and Rainey! I pop in from time to time to catch up with everyone here as well! Been a bit slack on the posts lately tho! :( I'll try to fix that! Welcome! Dianne
