Our tug and tow is covered when we are at home but out on the road we just take pot luck. So far no major catastrophies. Never had to make an Insurance claim either.
That's a real good question Roger as I was pondering that same thought myself, I'd love to hear someones thoughts who've been through the latest storms. Also I have wondered what the 'glass walled vans were like in these circumstances
Most of us take pot luck and some lose unfortunately. When at home our van is under cover but when away one has really little choice. A good insurance policy is about the only effective solution.
Bad Storms with hail are always a worry. You could try to cover your van but in most cases it would be extremely hard as the hail seldom comes straight down.

Just one point to come out of Perth for all damage ,houses, cars, and RV,s is the TIME it is taking to A .get an acessor to even look at your damage and B. when the repairs will even be looked at or started. Most thunder /hail storm are unpredictable so being able to cover is good insurance along with a good policy.
Insurance for vans is a very tricky thing. When I was permanent in Broome I was chained down to the concrete slab, and when I insured I had to send photos of my tie downs. Now I'm in Cairns there's no where to chain down to, so I have no idea what would happen. I have informed the insurance co. I'm on the road, but parked up in Cairns, so I guess that's all I can do. I have full cover from CIL. Watching the north for signs of another TC heading SE across the Gulf. You need to make as many queries with your insurance company, shop around to make sure the cover suits your purposes, and pray. Those "end of the earth" storms are unpredictable and "an act of God". If you've done the right thing by getting insurance in the first place, after all that homework, you really have to push to make sure the company does the right thing by you. I reckon it's a 2-way deal. If you need help contact a solicitor to get all the help you can, but don't anticipate the worst before it happens. Stay positive, AND honest. Good luck and all the best.
