need advice

Hi,
I am a new member...have travelled around Australia working alone and am now planning to drive to South Aust. and drive from Coober Pedy down the Oondatta track and the up the Birdsville track and maybe a little further. Am driving a 2006 Forrester and usually camp or stay in on-site vans. has anybody done this trip and can you give me some tips. I have driven on some very bad roads eg from Kalgoolie to Ulara across the desert so i am experienced.
Thank you
Sannie

Sannie, it is likely that the Cooper will cut the Birdsville Track.
There is a barge available if they run it to get vehicles across.

This is a good enough reason to go into that area. It wll be spectacular.

The Strzelecki Creek cut the Strzelecki track a few days ago. This is a series of pics taken over 3 hours. watch through to the end.

Thank you so much for the photoes, they were rather amazing, did you take them?

I should have been a little more specific in stating i am leaving the last week in June. Will the

water still be there... In one way i hope so because it would be something i was not

expecting, but one the other hand not experienced in driving through unexpected waters.

Cheers

Sannie

Not my pics, sadly Sannie. Someone from the Lyndhurst by the look of the url.

It looks like there will be water laying about for some months at least. These are scenes not often seen. Don't miss it if you have a chance.

Cheers,
Peter

WOW! Thanks for that link. What an amazing chain of events.
The blokes who built the culvert will be a "bit" disappointed.

Dear Sannie,

We will be travelling the same track in a few weeks but in the other direction. Before we start we will get a road condition update from:
