We would appreciate any confirmation or advice on how to proceed and are other users having similar problems.
We ordered a Avan Ovation M3 motor home from our NSW dealer mid December 2009 with a promise of delivery late February or March 2010 which is the contracted date. Having received no progress advice we started follow up mid February and were advised that the factory had delays and delivery would be mid March. We have followed up regularly since then and the factory delivery date appears to have slipped further with the latest advise being late April etc. We have now been waiting for over four months and have lost confidence in whatever advice is being given by the Avan factory to their dealers and now ask whether this is a normal sales method by Avan to cover any delivery problems that they have. We asked another Avan dealer and they advised that six weeks delivery was being advised to customers ordering new vehicles.
I purchased my Avan Ovation from a western suburbs dealer .. I picked it up from them after a two month delay. Quite a few teething problems which I've now sorted. The Dealer had no interest whatever in helping to persue small problems. They were primarily interested in making sales. From that point on, I've simply made an effort to make the vehicle my own and do whats needed by my own arrangement.
Its not much help to you, I know .. but when you do get it, go through it with a fine tooth comb to confirm that what you asked for is present ..
Time delays are common .. if that is your biggest concern, then most owners have some familiarity with it.
I wish you well. I've now knocked up some 22,000 k's since last October .. really happy with the vehicle .. the FIAT is great .. and I 'm making the Ovation how I want it ..
No regrets here!! just work through all your problems yourself, then you'll know just what condition your vehicle is in ..
Hooray we have at last received our long awaited Avan Ovation Motor home and to date everything looks OK.
However we would advise potential buyers of Ovation Motorhomes to be aware of the delivery times quoted by the NSW Dealer may not be accurate and from our experience at least five months delivery is minimum. To make matters worse customer inquiries are responded to with inaccurate factory delivery times which can be very frustrating. Don't make any travel plans until you have actually taken delivery.
If you can locate a satisfactory (with suitable layout etc.) second hand Avan Ovation or other similar products such as the Jayco Conquest/Optimum or Winnebago Birdsville then it may we a better (and possibly cheaper) and less harrying way to be on the road quicker.
