ABOUT TO DO THE NUT & BOLT AGAIN;

Leaving on the 5/6/10 for BBBRRRRRRR VIC again for a few weeks to catch up with friends. Then over to SA & the Flinders again ,via the Grampians,  been 20yrs since so its time for another look, back accross northern NSW to the Gold coast by mid Oct for our sons wedding. Thats enough planning for a start & it will keep me quite for a day or three LOL.
If there is anyone left that hasn,t gone north then hope to see you on the road.
To all those travelling , keep it safe & enjoy.
Cheers.

Does that mean you're about to hit the frog and toad or are you about to be like a fligeon and flock off to warmer climes. Don't get too Brahms and Liszt at happy hour time!

(I love rhyming slang)

PS: I had a mate once with a dog called "Locksmith"  I asked him why the name and he said... :  "kick him in the a**e and he makes a bolt for the front door"

(I don't know what the hell that's got to do with this thread either!)

Ooh, Firefly, only 7 more sleeps. Have you packed everything, is the rig set up, have yo done your stores shopping, where are you going first?
Nah, you don't have to answer. These are just the things on the list that I thought of.
I've been busy scrubbing mould off the van and annexe, inside and out. I lost 4 items of clothing to the mould and wet in one of my cupboards.
Then I did the curtains, windows and screens. It's been full on spring, or post-wet cleaning.
I also squeezed a whole tube of Sikaflex Marine & Auto into every orifice I thought water might get in. If the ants can get in, the water can get in.
Now I'm pooped, need a cup of tea and lie down, but I think I'll keep writing instead.

Everybody on the road, please, please, please drive as carefully as you know how, according to conditions, and allow for the other bastards stupidity. Give the idiots lots of space.

Yes the sleeps are getting less and less Chris.

Its been raining too much here to put our Jayco Hawke up to finish the pack mate but it will be done, hell or high water, this weekend.

All stores are stowed though, only the perishables left to buy. We are taking a gennie and free camping up to Darwin. Bought a little microwave and have frozen enough meals to just pull up and zap for five, bog in and enjoy happy hour.  wink

First night, the plan in Nindigully but if its wet, we will review that. Then onto Darwin to collect his cousins and head to your fave spot, the Kimberly for a fortnight, Cape Levique, back to Darwin then who knows.

Gee that has been a long haul for you with the mould mate, glad you sound to be on top of it.

How soon before you can head off?

Hey flrefly, hope nindigully is good for you. we camped there about 18 months ago beside river, had free showers at pub. Recent floods have been up to pub floors, so dont know what the camping is like down by the river.

Yeah we are a bit concerned at this stage with that stopover. Its still raining here in the Hunter so I hope its settled in the next week for that leg of the journey. Because we have a Hawke, it makes setting up awkward to say the least.

Four years back we stayed in the pub itself but that was a very unpleasant experience for my first night ever on the road. I won't stay in there again but beside the river looks lovely.

Lower Hunter to the Gully is a long run for one day however once you pass Moree you're more or less committed. I've done Newcastle to St. George in one day but it was a long day and I stayed in a motel as I was too tired to set up camp. (It was before I had the Goldstream as in my avatar.)

You're probably aware of this but the St George/Mitchell road is ok (or it was a few years ago), no need to "dog-leg" via Roma

These days I plan only a short run on the first day out.  I find it gives me more time to tidy up the "loose ends" and there's no need to get on the road at sparrowsf@rt.

I agree with you there Jim. smile

We have to be in Darwin by the 16th June though so we wanted to make good time. The first day is the easiest for us to hit the ground running, as the van is already packed down and hooked to the car. It is a long haul to there, we did it in '06 but not towing.

The best laid plans can come to a grinding halt on the day though mate. wink
