My list used to be long but have whittle it down over the years to a black marlin

Some of the most remembered
Barra - 1070mm long. Etimated by the guide to be close to 50lb, fat bugger
Spanish mackeral
Red emporor
Mangrove Jack
ang heaps of other warm water species + all the normal cold water species caught in my home state of tassie including bluefin tuna , albacore, strippies, never caught but had some good hook ups on marlin and mako in tassie. But I am a very happy fisherman and feel blessed with some of my catches
cheers

I have caught fish bigger than myself but now prefer to just catch what I can eat and store.biggrin
These days I live by the addage...
Any days fishing is better than a day working. wink
I have been known to fish with just a sinker so that I can sit and rest without SWMBO getting on my back......biggrinbiggrin.

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day....
Teach a man to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.........furious.

I used to do this in the boat, one day on a barron bit of sand about 10km off shore I was fishing with sinker only, decided a snooze was in order. Woke up about 1 1/2 hrs later with about 10 boats anchored and fishing within stone throw, they were still trying my secret spot when I left.
cheers

Hi All, Fishing is some thing that will drive you crazzy or keep you happy for years..
Do you want to just get a feed or do you want to have the fight of your life..
If you want a feed ,a hand line off a jetty will do,, To have the fight of your life you need all the good gear and thoes top secret places to go.. as for top fish..
The threed finn samon is a real good fight and better eating than most fish..
the good old mangro jack is pound for pound a good fighter and the best eating fish with out dought..
Barra yer they are ok in salt water, but the ones you can get 1mt plus in lakes, a good catch but dont eat well.
Spanish mac. yes have had one to the boat half as long as my tinny..a good fight and good eating as well..
Going to tassie this summer and hope to do some fishing there ,like tuna, MATE.. that would be it..maybe a rainbow truot or the brown..
Anyhow who started this dream, thank you...Bob n Bev

I prefer pelagic and most salt-water species. Fresh water fish always taste like mud to me.
I can't catch a KG whiting to save my life, but I can catch threadfin salmon off Cable Beach with a hand line.
There are many tasy species in the warmer waters, and in the cold water, but some of the tuna species need a little help with cooking to taste. A grilled marinated tuna steak is very nice.

oh im with you cruisin granny i dont like fresh water fish at all i reckon it tastes like the swampy water they live in and eat ? give me a nice sized bream any day, or a gorgeous barra ,
fishing here on the coast of caloundra practicaly doesnt exist, so after fishing janie creek off mapoon beach (weipa) and catching barra, mangrove jack , its very sad to sit all day in a tinny
and not even get a nudge on the line .

This place is practically fished out in my eyes ? so its no wonder we just sold our tinny on a great site called gumtree its free advertising and i sold the boat and fireplace, next is the huge spa bath i have ,and a fish tank to go.

Catching fish is the bonus to a good day by or on the water See some really pack the SH#@$ if they don't catch a monster every outing That's not sport that's a bloody nightmare to be around people like that

I reckon if you are going to mow the lawn you should learn to start it yourself so your man can sleep in!  biggrin
