SEAFORTH now i could tell you some stories, my parents had their honeymoon there 60odd years ago then bought a beach house there, we spent every school hols there & when we couldnt work the cane farm at farleigh we were at seaforth, Next time you go to victor creek check out the seaforth boating club house. My dad had a wish to have a sea rescue club that operated during the week so that all the cane ****ys who couldnt work[ too wet, too dry etc] could go fishing & have coverage because the mackay sea rescue squad only operated weekends. In 1981 my mum came to sydney to be with me when i had my bub, when she got home to seaforth [they had moved to the beach by then] she found her dining room set up with radios and was not happy. My dads dream was to have maybe a dozen monitors to man the radios day & night, i have no idea how many do it now but in those days the kids at the school were very involved a lot of the locals were involved & still are. He also hoped one day they would have a lock up maned safty area for cars & boat trailers etc, that only happened after dad died,he had members from all over australia the southerners who came up in winter all joined. I have no idea how many people were rescued over the years, dad died in1993 and things have gone on in leaps and bounds it makes me proud when i go home and see his wish has become a reality. Dad was mobile one, no one else will ever have that mobile number, well i have raved enough enjoy a wonderfull part of our country. My dads name was Keith Trevaskis commonly known as mowy there is a plaque on the wall of the club house go in & have a look.
i think the bowls club is open for meals friday sat and possibly sunday. we wilsl be here for anhother fortnight then management will ruin the whole holiday by having to go back to work. why cant we just all retire lol. mate caught a 65 cm flathead in the creek this morning i had to be content with a queenfish and a few others....life is tough....
